  • Patent number: 6912181
Abstract: An electronic timepiece without system failure at the time of transfer from the power-saving mode to the display mode is provided. A power-saving control circuit 400 controls drive of a date dial displaying a date when updating a date display, which has been stopped in a power-saving mode, to a current date at the time of transfer from the power-saving mode to the display mode. The power-saving control circuit 400 outputs a date dial drive inhibiting signal, which prohibits drive of the date dial 75, to a date-updating control circuit 300, if a voltage VDD of a power source unit B is less than or equal to a low threshold voltage V1. It outputs a date dial deceleration driving signal, which drives a date dial 75 with a predetermined speed slower than a normal update speed when transferring to the display mode, to a date-updating control circuit 300, if a source voltage VDD is equal to or less than a high threshold voltage V2.

  • Patent number: 6877893
Abstract: The invention concerns a timepiece comprising a mainspring with constant torque, having a balance spring and a balance wheel, the balance wheel (7) oscillation being maintained through an escapement mobile element (2) by moving a fixation point of the balance spring (6) when the oscillator passes through the oscillator impulse point, bringing about a circular motion of said balance spring (6) fixation point about the oscillator, thereby driving in rotation in time the mainspring-escapement assembly (2,6,7).

  • Patent number: 6856581
Abstract: A simple electronic horological device, termed a time cell, is presented with associated methods, systems, and computer program products. A time cell has an insulated, charge storage element that receives an electrostatic charge through its insulating medium, i.e. it is programmed. Over time, the charge storage element then loses the charge through its insulating medium. Given the reduction of the electric potential of the programmed charge storage element at a substantially known discharge rate, and by observing the potential of the programmed charge storage element at a given point in time, an elapsed time period can be determined. Thus, the time cell measures an elapsed time period without a continuous power source. One type of time cell is an analog time cell that may have a form similar to a non-volatile memory cell, particularly a floating gate field effect transistor (FGFET). The time cell may have an expanded floating gate for storing an electrostatic charge.

  • Patent number: 6850468
Abstract: In an analog electrical timepiece with a motor coil, when an external operating member is in a prescribed operating condition, the operating mode of the analog electrical timepiece is set to the data receive mode. Next, the analog timepiece generates a synchronization signal which is in synchronized to an external synchronization signal that is input from outside. Then, the analog electrical timepiece, when the operating mode is the data receive mode by the detection circuit, based on a synchronization signal and a data voltage signal that is a voltage signal induced around the motor coil by a data signal input from outside, generates and outputs a receive data.

  • Patent number: 6821014
Abstract: A rotating-type bezel apparatus has a case body and a bezel rotatably mounted on the case body and having alternately spaced recesses and projections. A first member is mounted on the case body and has an end portion elastically engageable with surface portions of the recesses and projections of the bezel to impart a click feel to the bezel during rotational movement thereof. A second member is movably mounted on the case body for movement between a first position and a second position. In the first position, the second member engages the first member to prevent a release of an elastic engagement between the front end portion of the main body of the first member and the surface portions of one recess and the two projections on either side of the one recess of the bezel.

  • Patent number: 6819634
Abstract: When an external switch means (1) is operated, a setting means (4) receives an output signal G1 therefrom and outputs setting signals S for varying the internal resistance of an adjusting means (5). When the internal resistance of the adjusting means (5) is varied, the potential (voltage value) at point A of the input value to a sensing means (6) is varied because it is the product of the generation quantity (current) of a power generating means (11) and the internal resistance. When the potential at point A exceeds a threshold value (H), the sensing means (6) outputs a sensing signal K of L level. When the sensing signal K of L level is outputted, the operation of the electronic timepiece changes to a power save mode where the drive of the second hand is stopped, for example. Thus the operation of the electronic timepiece changes to a power save mode when the power generation level of the power generating means (11) is equal to or lower than a specified level.
