Abstract: Methods, algorithm and signal processing means utilizing an explosively formed Harbinger (H) wave to forecast an imminent shock wave and in conjunction with the this trailing Main (M) shock wave determination of H wave velocity and M shock wave velocities, overpressure, dynamic pressure, and density and further the M shock wave epicenter location co-ordinates. These parameter determinations are based on the discovery of a Harbinger wave launched upon formation of the M shock wave which annunciates the incoming M shock wave before its arrival. These variables are further used to devise methods and systems to simultaneously detonate an array of munitions, deploy just in time personnel and/or equipment protection, determine the wave epicenter for identifying enemy combatants and terrorist positions, alert response teams to a deleterious event and its magnitude, signal the location of these deleterious events and determine if a munition has functioned.

Abstract: Comprising at least one device for providing mechanical/electrical energy conversion utilizing materials with linear electromechanical interaction properties, a device providing intermediate storage and, a device providing primary storage. Where the energy is transferred by inductive coupling of an inner hub coil and an outer hub coil between said storage devices. Energy conversion and storage is initiated by motion of said energy converter which places the system operational. Then, mechanical energy is converted into electrical energy which is delivered to the intermediate storage device. When the intermediate storage device is charged, energy is transferred to the outer hub coil for inductive transmission to the inner hub coil. From the inner hub, energy is immediately transferred to the primary storage until the system is required to provide power to an external device or system. Replacing or supplementing conventional sources of power, this system may also provide for collecting and transmitting data.

Abstract: A linear energy harvesting device that includes a housing and a piston that moves at least partially through the housing when it is compressed or extended from a rest position. When the piston moves, hydraulic fluid is pressurized and drives a hydraulic motor. The hydraulic motor drives an electric generator that produces electricity. Both the motor and generator are central to the device housing. Exemplary configurations are disclosed such as monotube, twin-tube, tri-tube and rotary based designs that each incorporates an integrated energy harvesting apparatus. By varying the electrical characteristics on an internal generator, the kinematic characteristics of the energy harvesting apparatus can be dynamically altered. In another mode, the apparatus can be used as an actuator to create linear movement.

Abstract: A Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) system including a Venturi exhaust passage device, in which a temperature and a pressure in a high pressure passage are measured, together with a difference of pressures in the high pressure passage and a low pressure passage, while a pressure drop across a DPF is monitored. A PM amount and an exhaust flow rate, which are key parameters in DPF control, can be calculated with the measured values. With the Venturi exhaust passage device, a two-stage bootstrapping heating device with two DOCs and an electrical heater can be further used to heat exhaust gas at a temperature lower than a light-off temperature, while a flow-back passage fluidly connected to an outlet of the DPF can be used for increasing exhaust flow-rate and making PM distribution in the DPF more uniform.
Abstract: A support for a pad computer and the like includes a body support strap which may be placed around the neck or shoulders of a user, and a body propping unit that positions a computer outwardly from the torso of the user. The body support strap connects to the body propping member preferably at a location proximately aligned with the center of gravity of the combined mass of the computer and computer support when the body popping member is deployed in its stand-off position. In a preferred variant the body propping member is a U-shaped strut assembly with two arms joined by a bridge. The body support strap connects to the arms. The arms are hinged at the sides of the computer. The bridge may be swung from an in-use orientation spacing the computer outwardly from a user, to a parked position wherein the bridge lies adjacent to an opposite transverse edge of the computer in the plane of the computer.
Abstract: The present invention discloses a mixed three-dimensional printed memory (3D-P). The slow contents (e.g., digital books, digital maps, music, movies, and/or videos) are stored in large memory blocks and/or large memory arrays, whereas the fast contents (e.g., operating systems, software, and/or games) are stored in small memory blocks and/or small memory arrays.
Abstract: The present invention discloses a compact three-dimensional memory (3D-MC). By forming simple switching devices (e.g., pass transistors) on the address-select lines, contact vias can be shared by the address-select lines in the same memory level, or from different memory levels. This leads to sparser and fewer contact vias.
Abstract: Dynamic tuning of the oscillating buoyant body of a wave energy converter over a range of periods that characterize energetic swell is achieved by controlling the ratio of total mass moment of inertia to restoring force and by controlling wave bridging. Mass is varied by locking and unlocking neutrally buoyant masses or by trapping and releasing seawater. For surging, water-plane area is forcibly varied. For rotational variants of heaving and surging and for pitching, the radius of gyration is varied. Invariant mass is reduced by using materials and structures with high ratios of strength to weight. Invariant added mass is reduced by streamlining, by constant radius body profiles and by keeping moving structures out of the water. Added mass is varied by using variable angle fins. Control of wave bridging, for a pitching body, including a wave following device, is by locking and unlocking serial segments of the buoyant body.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an integrated circuit having a flexible reference. In an example, the integrated circuit includes a reference generator, and the reference generator can generate a flexible reference signal in response to a control signal. The flexible reference signal can be changed freely by adjusting the control signal. By providing the flexible reference, the present invention can enhance the capability of verification and characterization for an integrated circuit design and reduce the physical layout area of the integrated circuit design. The present invention also relates to a method of operating the integrated circuit with a flexible reference signal.
Abstract: A compact device allows individual or combined correction of wafer probe planarity and orientation misalignment. The device is made as a metallic block or as a strong plastic block and contains three sections, which are held together by a steel blade or by a steel blade and a rotation pin; the sections are split apart for “Phi”—orientation alignment or rotated against each-other for “Theta” planarity alignment. The steel blade provides secure and anti-backlash flexibility both in lateral (“Phi”) and perpendicular (“Theta”) direction. Alternatively the “Theta” alignment can use a rotation shaft or a small part of the original block left over as a bridge joining both sections. The device is inserted between the fixed probe support and the probe itself.
Abstract: A system having a noise cancellation converter being configured for phase inverted synchronous operation with a primary converter. The primary converter is operable to supply power to at least one device. The primary converter produces a first electromagnetic interference during operation. The noise cancellation converter is further configured with parasitic components matching parasitic components of the primary converter. The noise cancellation converter produces a second electromagnetic interference that is coupleable to the device. The second electromagnetic interference comprises frequency components having an inverted phase relative to frequency components of the first electromagnetic interference for reducing a sum of the first electromagnetic interference and the second electromagnetic interference during coupling to the device.

Abstract: A method of healing a plurality of non-volatile semiconductor memory devices on a multi-chip package is disclosed. The multi-chip package can be heated to a temperature range having a temperature range upper limit value and a temperature range lower limit value. The temperature of the multi-chip package can be kept essentially within the temperature range for a predetermined time period by monitoring a thermal sensing element with a sensing circuit outside of the multi-chip package. The thermal sensing element may be located near the components with the lowest failure temperature to ensure the multi-chip package is not damaged during the healing process.

Abstract: The invention is a method of tracking the overall maximum power point of a grounded bipolar photovoltaic array by tracking and regulating the voltage of the weaker of the two monopolar subarrays at any instant in time. The transfer between subarrays being tracked for the maximum power point is seamless when the voltage of one subarray becomes lower than the other. This tracking method insures stable operation and maximum power transfer under all balanced and unbalanced PV array conditions. This tracking algorithm would typically be part of a larger digital power converter control system.
