Apparatus and method for maintaining synchronism between a picture signal and a matrix scanned array
Patent number: 5610667Abstract: A display apparatus for receiving a picture signal having video and synchronizing components includes a matrix of display cells arranged in an array of M columns by N rows. Display cells in the matrix are individually addressable by row and column signals so as to receive the video component of the picture signal in response thereto. A first shift circuit coupled to the matrix provides the column signals in response to a first clocking signal. A second shift circuit coupled to the matrix provides the row signals in response to a second clocking signal. A synchronizing detector or gate circuit coupled to the first and second shift circuits receives the synchronizing component of the picture signal and produces the second clocking signal in response to a preselected pointer signal from the first shift circuit. A phase locked loop circuit coupled to the first shift circuit receives the second clocking signal and produces the first clocking signal in response thereto.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 1995Date of Patent: March 11, 1997Assignee: Micron Display Technology, Inc.Inventor: Glen E. Patent number: 5600380Abstract: A first composite video signal may include attendant ghosts and sometimes includes in a prescribed L.sup.th line of each field during the vertical blanking interval one of a cycle of M ghost-canceling reference (GCR) signals of prescribed magnitude and respective phasing. Filter circuitry generates a second composite video signal in response to the first composite video signal, which is adjusted in response to filter programming signals generated by a computer storing a ghost-free GCR signal. The computer receives a GCR signal with attendant ghosts and compares it to the stored ghost-free GCR signal, thereby carrying out correlation procedures for calculating the filter programming signals. The second composite video signal is a response to the first composite video signal in which the attendant ghosts are lessened.Type: GrantFiled: April 15, 1994Date of Patent: February 4, 1997Assignee: Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.Inventors: Chandrakant B. Patent number: 5592240Abstract: A digital convergence apparatus using two different kinds of data to correct the convergence of odd and even scanning lines, respectively. A first memory stores data for the convergence correction corresponding to plural correction executing points aligned in the horizontal or vertical direction of a screen. A first static convergence data memory stores a first static convergence correction data for correcting the entire screen in the same direction, a second static convergence data memory stores a second static convergence correction data different from the first static convergence correction data only by an amount corresponding to the distance between the scanning lines. Selecting means select the output of the first or the second static convergence data memory according to the odd field period or the even field period. Adding means add the output of the selecting means to the data stored in the first memory.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 1995Date of Patent: January 7, 1997Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha RoshibaInventors: Tsutomu Sakamoto, Masanori Fujiwara, Yoshiji Tsuzuki, Hisayuki Mihara

Patent number: 5592236Abstract: Disclosed is a method and apparatus for combining first and second video signals to produce a composite video signal for display. First and second video sources generate first and second video signals. A chroma key circuit is included for comparing each pixel of the first video signal with a preselected color and generating logic signals indicating whether or not each pixel matches the preselected color. An input lock map stores each of the logic signals when field data is in a first state and provides the logic signals on an output line thereof when the field data is in a second state. A frame buffer selectively receives (1) a complement of the logic signals when the field data is in the first state and (2) the logic signals when the field data is in the second state.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 1995Date of Patent: January 7, 1997Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Fred Rosenbaum, Paul S. Patent number: 5589887Abstract: In a method and a circuit for detecting and concealing video signal errors caused by vertically extending film scratches during television film scanning, an error signal is derived at error locations generated by disturbed pixels and is used in the form of a control signal for concealing errors in the video signal. The error signal is generated only when an adjustable, locally bounded scratch width in the horizontal direction is not exceeded and when each scratch essentially extends vertically, and when the scratch length substantially corresponds to the film frame height. Finally, the disturbed locations in the video signal are replaced by the corresponding low-pass-filtered video signal with the aid of the error signal.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 1995Date of Patent: December 31, 1996Assignee: U.S. Philips CorporationInventor: Gerhard Wischermann
