  • Patent number: 9449089
Abstract: A computer-implemented method includes receiving, by a first computing device, an identification of a video and an identification of a distribution channel of the video. The method includes retrieving, by the first computing device, from a video sharing network, metadata associated with a video. The method includes retrieving, by the first computing device, from a second computing device in a second network, data having at least one characteristic in common with the metadata. The method includes generating, by the first computing device, a profile of the video based on the retrieved data and the metadata. The method includes generating, by the first computing device, a profile of the distribution channel based on the retrieved data and metadata. The first computing device generates a recommendation for a method to increase a level of distribution of the video. The first computing device provides, to a user, the recommendation.

  • Patent number: 9449282
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and apparatus for automatically determining the relevance of matches between entities. A set of one or more indicators of relevance for each of a plurality of matches may be detected, where each of the plurality of matches exists between a first entity and a different one of a plurality of entities. Each set of one or more indicators of relevance indicates a degree of two-way interest for a corresponding one of the plurality of matches, the degree of two-way interest indicating both a degree of interest of the first entity in the corresponding one of the plurality of entities and a degree of interest of the corresponding one of the plurality of entities in the first entity. A probability of relevance of each of the plurality of matches may be determined based at least in part upon a corresponding set of one or more indicators of relevance. Each of the plurality of matches may be ranked based at least in part on the corresponding probability of relevance.

  • Patent number: 9430332
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for enabling efficient access to incremental backups may include selecting an incremental backup of a volume of data, the incremental backup of the volume of data storing blocks from the volume of data that have changed since a previous backup of the volume of data, identifying block metadata for the incremental backup that describes a location of each block within the blocks in the incremental backup, detecting synthesized block metadata for the previous backup that describes a location of each block in the volume according to a synthesized view of the volume of data from a full backup of the volume up to the previous backup, and combining the block metadata for the incremental backup with the synthesized block metadata for the previous backup to generate new synthesized block metadata for the incremental backup. Various other methods, systems, and computer-readable media are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9430669
Abstract: A content management system allows a user to create a collection folder to which a submitting user can add content items without being able to access content items added to the folder by other submitting users. A collection folder is created in a namespace of a collecting user and folder is made available to multiple submitting users to allow the submitting users to add items to the folder. When a submitting user first request to store a content item in the collection folder, the content management system creates a sub-folder associated with the submitting user in the collection folder and stores the content item in the sub-folder. The submitting user is given rights to the sub-folder, but is not given rights to sub-folders created for other submitting users.

  • Patent number: 9424288
Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for analyzing performance of a database cluster. Disclosed are techniques for analyzing performance of components of a database cluster by transforming many discrete event measurements into a time series to identify dominant signals. The method embodiment commences by sampling the database cluster to produce a set of timestamped events, then pre-processing the timestamped events by tagging at least some of the timestamped events with a semantic tag drawn from a semantic dictionary and formatting the set of timestamped events into a time series where a time series entry comprises a time indication and a plurality of values corresponding to signal state values. Further techniques are disclosed for identifying certain signals from the time series to which is applied various statistical measurement criteria in order to isolate a set of candidate signals which are then used to identify indicative causes of database cluster behavior.

  • Patent number: 9418129
Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for adaptive high-performance database redo log synchronization. The method commences upon performing a write operation of a redo log entry, the write operation concluding with an indication of completion of the write operation of the redo log entry. Any number of committing processes may be waiting for the indication of completion, and upon indication of completion, then (using a first synchronization mode) the processes or proxy measures the waiting time as experienced by the committing processes (e.g., while waiting for the indication of completion of the write operation of the redo log entry). In some cases a second synchronization mode would introduce less latency than the first synchronization mode, so the system changes to a second synchronization mode. The system can also change mode when a predicted second mode waiting time is smaller than the measured waiting time.

  • Patent number: 9378228
Abstract: A system and method for running an application on multiple databases is described. A selection of data stored in a database to be used in conjunction with an in-memory database is identified. A selection of a storage mode corresponding to a dual system storage mode or a source system storage mode is received. The selection of data is initialized in the in-memory database. An entry corresponding to the selection of data is generated in a lookup table when the dual system storage mode is selected.

  • Patent number: 9372901
Abstract: An application search system provides search results for applications based on one or more attributes of the applications. A search query is received by the application search system from a partner. The application search system retrieves a set of applications in response to the search query. In addition, the application search system receives, from one or more sources, restrictive information regarding one or more security attributes for one or more applications in the set of applications. A security value is generated for each of the one or more applications in the set of applications. The security value includes a security attribute value for each of the one or more security attributes. The application search system provides the retrieved set of applications for display at a user interface to the partner. Furthermore, each generated security value is also displayed in conjunction with the corresponding application.

  • Patent number: 9361395
Abstract: A request for a document is received at a user device while in an offline state. The request includes a public uniform resource locator (URL) corresponding to a location remote from the user device. The user device launches an application that intercepts the request and selects one of multiple local caches based on the public URL. Each of the multiple local caches is associated with a private URL. The user device accesses the selected local caches via a corresponding private URL to retrieve an editor. The user device modifies a URL history to replace the private URL with a public URL and provides the document, via the editor, to the user device.

  • Patent number: 9342615
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for modifying search results. In one aspect, a method includes receiving data that specify a set of responsive resources for a search request that was submitted by a user device. A determination is made that a resource request for a particular resource from the set of responsive resources will cause the user device to be redirected to a different resource than the particular resource. In response to the determination a reference to the different resource is inserted into a search result for the particular resource. The search result for the particular resource is provided to the user device, where the search result includes the reference to the different resource.

  • Patent number: 9298816
Abstract: Methods, systems and computer-readable media enable various techniques related to semantic navigation. One aspect is a technique for displaying semantically derived facets in the search engine interface. Each of the facets comprises faceted search results. Each of the faceted search results is displayed in association with user interface elements for including or excluding the faceted search result as additional search terms to subsequently refine the search query. Another aspect automatically infers new metadata from the content and from existing metadata and then automatically annotates the content with the new metadata to improve recall and navigation. Another aspect identifies semantic annotations by determining semantic connections between the semantic annotations and then dynamically generating a topic page based on the semantic connections.
