  • Patent number: 11481960
Abstract: A method includes a computing system tracking motions performed by a hand of a user, determining one or more anchor locations in a three-dimensional space, and generating a virtual surface anchored in the three-dimensional space. An image of a real environment is captured using a camera worn by the user, and a pose of the camera when the image is captured is determined. The computing system determines a first viewpoint of a first eye of the user and a region in the image that, as viewed from the camera, corresponds to the virtual surface. The computing system renders an output image based on (1) the first viewpoint relative to the virtual surface and (2) the image region corresponding to the virtual surface, and displays the output image on a first display of the device, the first display being configured to be viewed by the first eye of the user.

  • Patent number: 11474614
Abstract: Methods, devices, and processor-readable media for adjusting the control-display gain of a gesture-controlled device are described. Adjusting the control-display gain may facilitate user interaction with content or UI elements rendered on a display screen of the gesture-controlled device. The control-display gain may be adjusted based on a property of how a mid-air dragging gesture is being performed by a user's hand. The property may be the location of the gesture, the orientation of the hand performing the gesture, or the velocity of the gesture. A hand that becomes stationary for a threshold time period while performing the dragging gesture may adjust the control-display gain to a different level. Control-display gain may be set to a different value based on the current velocity of the hand performing the gesture. The control-display gain levels may be selected from a continuous range of values or a set of discrete values. Devices for performing the methods are described.

  • Patent number: 11468288
Abstract: Method of analyzing eye tracking data for estimating user's cognitive and emotional level of consumption of visual information. A training machine learning model is trained using a data set containing gaze information of known training users, their known cognitive levels and their EEG signal measurements. A calibrating machine learning model is trained using a data set of calibrating visual information displayed to a user, calibrating gaze tracks of that user, calibrating actions data of that user, and calibrating session data related to the session environment. The device displays to that user a target visual information and records target eye tracking data of that user in response to consuming the target information. The recorded target eye tracking data is calibrated via the calibrating machine learning model. The calibrated target eye tracking data is fed into the training machine learning model, which estimates the cognitive levels of consumption of the target visual information of that user.

  • Patent number: 11467660
Abstract: Systems and methods for tracking the position of a head-mounted display (HMD) system component. The HMD component may carry a plurality of angle sensitive detectors that are able to detect the angle of light emitted from a light source. The HMD component may include one or more scatter detectors that detect whether light has been scattered or reflected, so such light can be ignored. Control circuitry causes light sources to emit light according a specified pattern, and receives sensor data from the plurality of angle sensitive detectors. The processor may process the sensor data and scatter detector data, for example using machine learning or other techniques, to track a position of the HMD component. An angle sensitive detector may include a spatially-varying polarizer having a position-varying polarizing pattern and one or more polarizer layers that together are operative to detect the angle of impinging light.
