Abstract: A lighting apparatus includes a plurality of light emitting diode (LED) sets coupled in series. The apparatus further includes a bypass circuit coupled in parallel with one of the LED sets and configured to sense and control a bypass current when the one of the LED sets is in a first bias state and to attenuate the bypass current responsive to a transition of the one of the LED sets to a second bias state. The first bias state may be substantially non-conducting and the second bias state may be conducting. The apparatus may include a plurality of such bypass circuits, respective ones of which are coupled in parallel with respective ones of the LED sets such that the bypass circuits are coupled in series.

  • Patent number: 8200988
Abstract: A portion of a firmware program may be automatically upgraded during power on of a processor-based system. A firmware upgrade file signed by a private key is authenticated using a public key accessible to the firmware program. The authentication and upgrade is performed automatically. Interrupted upgrades are anticipated and resolved by the firmware program. The public key is duplicated and is itself upgradable, in case the private key changes. The firmware program may be locked to prevent both viewing and unauthorized upgrades of the public keys or other parts of the firmware program.

  • Patent number: 7937593
Abstract: Systems and methods that storage device content authentication are provided. A system that verfies storage device content received from a storage device may comprise, for exmple, a security processor coupled to the storage device. The security processor may be adapted to receive a partitioned storage device region from the storage device. The partitioned storage device region may comprise, for example, regional content and first hashed regional content. The security processor may generate, for example, second hashed regional content by performing a hashing function on the regional content received by the security processor. The security processor may compare, for example, the first hashed regional content to the second hashed regional content. The security processor may varify the regional content received by the security processor if the first hashed regional content is the same as the second hashed regional content.

  • Patent number: RE42171
Abstract: A digital data file encryption system and method where digital data encrypted to a high level and an encryption key are received and stored in a computer. The stored, encrypted digital data is decrypted on the basis of the encryption key and stored in a buffer of a predetermined size. Output digital data from the buffer is reencrypted to a low level of encryption and downloaded to a digital data playing device or a data storage medium. Therefore, a digital audio or video data file is prevented from being diverted in unencrypted form from a computer communication network when it is transmitted to a personal computer through the computer communication network and, in turn, downloaded to the digital data playing device. Further, the digital data playing device is prevented from rising in cost due to the use of simple encryption for data downloaded to the playing device.

  • Patent number: RE46027
Abstract: Transmit power control is achieved by determining a data rate of at least a first channel and controlling the transmit power of the at least first channel based on the determined data rate. The transmit power may be adjusted based on a ratio of power between the at least first channel and a second channel, and the ratio may be adjusted based on the data rate of the first data channel. The first data channel may be a data channel, and the second data channel may be a control channel. The ratio is adjusted such that a power offset between the first channel and the second channel is proportional to the data rate of the first channel. The ratio may be adjusted based on the coding rate, data transmission rate, and/or a rate matching parameter. The transmit power may also be adjusted based on received power control commands. The transmit power may be adjusted in this manner in the uplink or the downlink direction.
