  • Patent number: 10134145
Abstract: According to at least one example embodiment, a method and corresponding apparatus of pruning video data comprise detecting motion areas within video frames of the video data based on short-term and long-term variations associated with content of the video data. Motion events, associated with the content of the video data, are then identified based on the motion areas detected, corresponding filtered motion areas, and variation patterns associated with the video data. Based on the motion events identified, a storage pattern for storing video frames of the video data is determined. The video frames are stored according to the determined storage pattern.

  • Patent number: 10129605
Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed which reduces or removes the effectiveness of commercial skip systems such as presently found in VCRs, PVRs, etc. which are designed to delete commercials from signal material upon playback of a previously recorded version of the signal material. In an embodiment, the effectiveness of the commercial skip system is reduced or removed by adding a flat field of selected signal level to active line portions of video lines of the signal material. Other embodiments modify the normal fade to black signal indicative of a commercial to provide a fade to non-black signal. In further embodiments, a fade to non-black signal is inserted in an overseas area of the signal picture. Still further embodiments modify audio signals or selected signals in the horizontal blanking interval which may be used in commercial skip systems to detect the presence of commercials.

  • Patent number: 10097789
Abstract: According to one embodiment, methods and systems are disclosed for converting multi-media content to multiple deliverable formats using a conversion workflow. For example, a single source content file can be captured and a plurality of deliverable content files can be derived from the single source content file. Each of the plurality of deliverable content files can be in a format specific to a different distribution channel. That is, a single source media file can be used to automatically build one or more distribution files for a particular channel or channels. Furthermore, the distribution files can be built including logos, branding, open/close graphics, ratings, promo material, etc. The inclusion of these elements can be based on a common set of business rules defining, for example, what elements should be included in different types of distribution files.

  • Patent number: 10043080
Abstract: A self-position calculating apparatus includes: a light projector 11 configured to project a patterned light beam 32a onto a road surface 31 around a vehicle; and a camera 12 configured to capture an image 38 of the road surface 31 around the vehicle including an area onto which the patterned light beam 32a is projected. The self-position calculating apparatus calculates an orientation angle of the vehicle 10 relative to the road surface 31 from a position of the patterned light beam 32a on the image 38 obtained by the camera 12, and calculates an amount of change in the orientation of the vehicle based on temporal changes in multiple feature points on the road surface which are detected from the image 38. The self-position calculating apparatus calculates current position and orientation angle of the vehicle by adding the amount of change in the orientation to initial position and orientation angle of the vehicle.
