Abstract: A content management system and method for use of same is disclosed. In one embodiment of the system, the set-top box is configured to receive a source signal which includes a stream of network programming having time slots interposed therein. The set-top box detects signaling data indicative of a designated time slot within the network programming and responsive thereto, interposes content stored at the set-top box at the designated time slot within the network programming. The set-top box then forwards the interposed content to the display. Following the forwarding of the interposed content, the set-top box returns to receiving network programming and forwarding the network programming to the display. The set-top box also provides confirmation of the displayed interposed content to a server, which may map the confirmation information.

Abstract: Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture are disclosed to generate a signature based on signature candidates. An example apparatus disclosed herein includes first means for determining an alignment point of a first candidate signature segment and a second candidate signature segment, the first candidate signature segment and the second candidate signature segment include time data and signature data, the alignment point based on the time data of the first candidate signature segment and the time data of the second candidate signature segment, means for comparing a first signature to a second signature at the alignment point, the first signature representative of media included in the first candidate signature segment, the second signature included in the second candidate signature segment, and means for stitching the second signature to the first signature based on the comparison to generate a stitched signature, the stitched signature to be used for media crediting.

Abstract: The present technology relates to an information processing terminal, an information processing method, and a program, each of which makes it possible to easily switch a setting regarding playback of content. An information processing terminal according to an aspect of the present technology starts playback of content by using a default value as a setting value of a predetermined setting regarding playback, and controls the playback of the content so that, in a case where a switching operation for switching the predetermined setting is performed, the content is played back by using a setting value selected during previous playback. The present technology is applicable to a smartphone in which various applications can be installed to extend a function thereof.

Abstract: A live video distribution system has an on-the-spot system including a video signal generating means for generating video signals of a plurality of systems having different display ranges and a communicating means, and a plurality of terminal apparatuses each including a video display means, a display range setting signal generating means, and a communicating means. The systems of the video signals and the terminal apparatuses are associated with each other, the on-the-spot system has a function to determine the display ranges of the video signals of the respective systems on the basis of display range setting signals generated by the terminal apparatuses associated with the respective systems, and a function to send the video signals. Each of the terminal apparatuses can send the display range setting signal, can receive the video signal of the system associated with the terminal apparatus itself, and can display a video image based on the video signal.

Abstract: Methods for generating an AV bitstream (e.g., an MPEG-2 transport stream or bitstream segment having adaptive streaming format) such that the AV bitstream includes at least one video I-frame synchronized with at least one audio I-frame, e.g., including by re-authoring at least one video or audio frame (as a re-authored I-frame or a re-authored P-frame). Typically, a segment of content of the AV bitstream which includes the re-authored frame starts with an I-frame and includes at least one subsequent P-frame. Other aspects are methods for adapting such an AV bitstream, audio/video processing units configured to perform any embodiment of the inventive method, and audio/video processing units which include a buffer memory which stores at least one segment of an AV bitstream generated in accordance with any embodiment of the inventive method.

Abstract: Techniques to allow advertising or other secondary content to be dismissed for later follow up are disclosed. In various embodiments, a user input associated with dismissing a displayed content for later follow up is received. Display of the content item discontinued and a follow up record is stored based at least in part on the indication. The follow up record is used to provide to a user with which the user input is associated a follow up content associated with the dismissed content.

Abstract: A system and method for wirelessly transmitting audiovisual information. A first plurality of packets including audiovisual information may be generated. A second plurality of packets including error correction coding information for the audiovisual information may be generated. Control information for associating the error correction coding information with the audiovisual information may be generated, and a third plurality of packets including the control information may also be generated. The plurality of packets, including the first, second, and third pluralities of packets, may be transmitted to a mobile device in a wireless manner. The control information may inform the mobile device of the association of the first error correction coding information with the audiovisual information.

Abstract: A system and method for providing quality control in immersive video during pausing of a video streaming session. In one embodiment, a paused video frame may comprise a plurality of mixed quality video tiles depending on user gaze vector information. Under pause control, the video quality of all tiles of the paused video frame is equalized such that it is of same value for all the video tiles, which may be the video quality of the tiles presented in a viewport of the client device. The paused video frame having the same quality tiles throughout is used as a replacement video frame, which is presented to the client device player for decoding and displaying instead of the mixed quality video frame while the streaming session is paused.

Abstract: A television system with a network function is disclosed. The television system includes several client devices and a server device. The several client devices are configured to store and transmit the client information. The client information includes channel information and several positions of the several client devices. The server device is communicatively connected to the several client devices and is configured to receive the client information, to integrate the client information so as to generate integrated information, and to transmit the integrated information to the several client devices. The several client devices are further configured to confirm the several integrated information so as to update the several client information.

Abstract: Identification of services that carry the same or equivalent content. A reception apparatus includes circuitry configured receive first service information for a first service included in a first broadcast stream, and receive second service information for a second service included in a second broadcast stream. The first service is associated with a first virtual channel number and the second service is associated with a second virtual channel number. The circuitry is configured to determine whether the first service included in the first broadcast stream contains the same programming content as a service included in another broadcast stream based on the first service information. The first service information includes an identifier included in the second service information when the first service included in the first broadcast stream contains the same programming content as the second service included in the second broadcast stream.

Abstract: A mechanism is described for facilitating adaptive resolution and viewpoint-prediction for immersive media in computing environments. An apparatus of embodiments, as described herein, includes one or more processors to receive viewing positions associated with a user with respect to a display, and analyze relevance of media contents based on the viewing positions, where the media content includes immersive videos of scenes captured by one or more cameras. The one or more processors are further to predict portions of the media contents as relevant portions based on the viewing positions and transmit the relevant portions to be rendered and displayed.

Abstract: A video community system that provides conversation videos to a member who is one of a plurality of community members. The system can include a conversation video storage medium that stores conversation videos that are each associated with one of a plurality of thematic content events; and a member interface that couples the video community system to a plurality of user devices. The member interface receives a user request from the requesting community member for a conversation video that is associated with a particular thematic content event. In response, the video community system accesses the conversation video from the conversation video storage medium that is associated with the particular thematic content event identified in the user request. The video community system communicates the accessed conversation video and at least a portion of the particular thematic content event to the requesting community member's device for concurrent display.

Abstract: There is disclosed a streaming technique in which a distributed playback, DP, master device receives a media stream from a content provider and transmits the media stream to a plurality of DP client devices. The DP master device may follow different policies. In case one DP client device has not a level of security sufficient for a particular quality, one policy provides that the stream is degraded, while another policy provides that the stream is to be transmitted by a content provider at a reduced quality.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and media for selectively presenting broadcast content based on user interests are provided. In some implementations a method for selectively presenting broadcast content is provided, the method comprising: receiving user information; associating one or more athletes, each on a roster of a team in a sports organization, with the user based on the user information; identifying broadcast programs that a user device can present; determining broadcast programs that depict a game between teams in the sports organization that are relevant to an athlete associated with the user based on program metadata; receiving event metadata for the relevant broadcast programs that is indicative of events in the game depicted therein; determining that a portion of the first broadcast program is relevant to a first entity based on the event metadata; and causing the user device to present the portion of the first broadcast.

The multi-access server also accesses input data from an asset data source. The multi-access server performs a rendering pass on the input data, the rendering pass performed in accordance with the requested rendering operation to generate a render pass output dataset. The render pass output dataset is representative of a renderable image depicting image content in a first form having limited quality or detail. The render pass output dataset is also configured for use in generating fully-rendered image data that depicts the image content in a second form having additional quality or detail beyond the limited quality or detail of the first form. Corresponding methods and systems are also disclosed.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for selecting content item identifiers for display. The system may identify a set of content items that are likely to be requested in the future based on a history of content item requests. The system then selects a first plurality of content categories using a category selection neural net and selects a first set of recommended content items for the first plurality of content categories. The system increases a reward score for the first plurality of content categories based on receiving a request for a content item that is included in the first set of recommended content items. The system also decreases the reward score for the first plurality of content categories based on determining that the requested content item is included in the set of content items that are likely to be requested in the future. The neural net is trained based on the reward score of the first plurality of content categories to reinforce reward score maximization.
