Abstract: Video content is uploaded via the Internet to a video-on-demand (VOD) server identified by a title and a hierarchical address of categories and subcategories for categorizing the title. The VOD server converts and stores the video content at a storage address in a video content database linked to the title. The title is listed in a location of an electronic program guide (EPG) using the same categories and subcategories as in its hierarchical address. Any TV subscriber can access the EPG and navigate through its categories and subcategories to find a title for viewing on the TV. This can enable many new blogging or podcasting-like programs by popular “Hosts” to be self-published on the Internet and readily navigated for display on TV. The EPG can also store TV program addresses as bookmarks and allow them to be shared with other subscribers or with friends and contacts online by sending to their email addresses.

Abstract: A system that handles delivery of service(s) through a client device, includes an interactive service provider, a video service provider, and a client device. The interactive service provider inserts at least one of digital watermarks and digital fingerprints in non-programming media content. The video service provider transmits a media stream of the media content that includes programming media content and the non-programming media content. The client device detects at least one of the inserted digital watermarks and the digital fingerprints in the playback duration of the media content and renders overlay graphics on the media content. The client device activates at least one of input devices paired with the client device and the rendered overlay graphics. The client device further receives trigger responses over activated overlay graphics and displays an interactive view to enable delivery of service(s) in response to the trigger responses.

The method includes: receiving a selection instruction of having selected one or more video streams or key frames of the one or more video streams to be browsed; setting video stream thumbnails generated from the one or more video streams or key frame thumbnails generated from the key frames to a scene thumbnail to generate a picture layout stream according to the selection instruction, where the scene thumbnail is generated according to a scene displayed in an augmented reality/virtual reality (AR/VR) interface; and presenting the picture layout stream in the VR/AR interface, and providing a virtual layout interface of multiple video stream pictures.

Further embodiments include determining, according to the monitoring and the detecting, a measure of attention of the user within a region of the group of frames, determining that the measure of attention of the user within the region of the group of frames satisfies a threshold, and embedding in at least a portion of subsequent frames of the plurality of frames a visual advertisement in the region via a communication device. Abstract: Both a conventional receiver and an HDR-compatible receiver well perform electro-optical conversion processing on transmission video data obtained by using an HDR opto-electronic transfer characteristic. High dynamic range opto-electronic conversion is performed on high dynamic range video data to obtain the transmission video data. Encoding processing is performed on this transmission video data to obtain a video stream. A container of a predetermined format including this video stream is transmitted. Metadata information indicating a standard dynamic range opto-electronic transfer characteristic is inserted into a layer of the video stream, and metadata information indicating a high dynamic range opto-electronic transfer characteristic is inserted into at least one of the layer of the video stream and a layer of the container.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for provisioning of customer premise equipment (CPE) equipped with a secure microprocessor to receive e.g., digital video content by entering unique identification of the CPE at one or more servers located at the headend or other location of a content-based network. In one embodiment, the CPE comprises a download-enabled (e.g., DCAS) host with embedded cable modem and embedded set-top box functionality, and the provisioning includes enabling DOCSIS functionality of the CPE, assigning an IP address to the CPE and providing the CPE with a client image for the conditional access system chosen by the network operator. In one variant, the network operator can deactivate a provisioned device while connected to the network, as well when disconnected from the network. The network operator can also add, delete or replace conditional access client image in a provisioned device.

Abstract: A real-time customized promotion channel may be provided according to at least one attribute of digital contents displayed on a user device. Such a user device may include a communication circuit configured to receive channel service information from the server, an Input/Output (I/O) circuit configured to reproduce digital contents and output the reproduced digital contents to a display, and a controller configured to determine a promotion channel related to at least one attribute of the digital contents and request the determined promotion channel to the server. The communication circuit may be configured to receive the requested promotion channel from the server, and the I/O circuit is configured to reproduce the promotion channel and output the reproduced promotion channel through the display after the outputted digital contents ends.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing playback of audio content during a trick-play mode in accordance with embodiments of the invention are disclosed. Media content can include audio content and video content. The audio content is divided into segments and the video content includes frames. Synchronization information associates a presentation time of each of the segments of the audio content with a presentation time of one or more frames associated with the images of the video content. When a trick-play mode is requested, the next frame from the video content to present is determined. The synchronization information is used to determine the segments of the audio content associated with the next frame. The determined segments audio content are presented as the frames are displayed in trick-play mode.

A media player client receives a request to transfer a media stream, which is playing on a first media device, to a second media device. In response to determining that the second media device comprises a larger screen than the first media device, the media player content determines, based on the genre and resolution of the media stream data, whether the media stream data can be transferred, from the first media device to the second media device.

The receiver acquires first signaling data distributed on a broadcast wave of digital broadcasting in an IP transmission system, acquires broadcast signaling data as second signaling data, acquires communication signaling data as the second signaling data when flag information included in the broadcast signaling data indicates that the communication signaling data is provided from a server over the Internet together with the broadcast signaling data, and connects to a stream of a broadcast component or a stream of a communication component thereby to control reproduction of the component on the basis of at least one of the broadcast signaling data and the communication signaling data. The present technology is applicable to TV receivers, for example.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to a method for monitoring a pet by a robot based on a grid map and a chip. A mutual position relationship between the pet and the robot is determined through wireless communication between a wireless signal device on the pet and the robot, and then whether there is an obstacle cell or not between grid cells where the robot and the pet are located in the grid map is judged. If NO, it is indicated that the pet may be effectively shot at a present position and shooting direction of the robot, and the present position and shooting direction of the robot are not required to be changed. If YES, it is indicated that no pet but an obstacle may be shot at the present position of the robot.

Abstract: A system and method for distributing watermarked media content assets wherein a main track of a media content asset is provided with a first watermarking payload and at least one variant track is provided with a second watermarking payload. A plurality of composite segments of the media content asset are generated for distribution, wherein each composite segment includes a portion of the main track and corresponding portion of at least one variant track. The composite segments may be uploaded to a delivery node operative to deliver segments responsive to a unique watermarking signature provided by a client controller operating in conjunction with a watermarking session manager.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and a system for transmitting alternative image content of a physical display to different viewers, comprising: generating at least two different sets of image data, each set of image data comprising a sequence of individual images; displaying the images of said at least two sets of image data in a time-sliced multiplexed manner on said physical display; generating at least one video stream of a scene which includes said physical display, said video stream consisting of video frames captured synchronously with the displaying of the images of one of said at least two sets of image data on said physical display; and transmitting said video stream to a sub-set of said viewers, wherein at least one set of image data comprises a sequence of images and inverse images. In a non-limiting embodiment, an apparatus, such as a media device, may provide interactive content to a user. The media device may receive content comprising primary and secondary content from a content provider, and then determine whether the secondary content is a candidate for an interactive experience. The media device may also provide the interactive experience to the user when the secondary content is a candidate for the interactive experience. Furthermore, the media device may monitor tracking information of the interactive experience.
