Abstract: A service desk management server obtains information about an incident associated with a customer-facing information technology (IT) service, a change order associated with the customer-facing IT service, or both. The service desk management server calculates, as a function of the obtained information, a health metric that quantitatively indicates a customer-perceived health of the customer-facing IT service. The service desk management server assists a service catalog server to compose a service catalog to indicate the health metric for the customer-facing IT service to prospective customers of that service. The service desk management server's assistance in this regard comprises sending the health metric from the service desk management server to the service catalog server.

Abstract: A tuning engine for a virtualized computing system is described that periodically collect performance metrics from the virtualized computing system, and detects whether a change in system state has occurred based on the collected metrics. The tuning engine may determine whether the virtualized computing system is densely virtualized, and accordingly modify operations and configuration settings of various components in charge of handling networking for the virtualized computing system.

Abstract: A set of similar messages addressed to a user is detected. Redundantly similar portions of the set of similar messages and a progressive set of differences between the set of similar messages are identified. The set of similar messages are consolidated into a single consolidated message. The single consolidated message includes one version of the redundantly similar portions in association with the progressive set of differences in a sequence and the progressive set of differences formatted differently from the redundant similar portions.

Abstract: A method for synchronizing haptic effects with at least one media component in a media transport stream includes identifying a series of video frames containing imaging information and/or a series of audio frames containing sound information in the media transport stream; identifying a series of haptic frames containing force feedback information in the media transport stream; and synchronizing the force feedback information in response to the imaging information and/or sound information.

Abstract: A method for operating a receiving portable terminal in a mobile communication system includes receiving a first packet from a sending portable terminal, determining a fingerprint overlapping a fingerprint corresponding to at least one chunk of the first packet in a fingerprint set cache, determining a fingerprint set including the most redundant fingerprints, in the fingerprint set cache, determining at least one fingerprint to send, in the determined fingerprint set, sending the at least one determined fingerprint to the sending portable terminal, and receiving a second packet from the sending portable terminal. An apparatus includes a controller configured to determine at least one redundant fingerprint overlapping a fingerprint corresponding to at least one chunk of the first packet in a fingerprint set cache, determine a fingerprint set including the most redundant fingerprint in the fingerprint set cache, and determine at least one fingerprint to send in the determined fingerprint set.

Abstract: A network element (NE) comprising a receiver configured to receive a content request message from a client node via a network, wherein the content request message comprises an identifier of a data object, a memory configured to store a content routing table comprising local routing entries for popular data objects, and a content indicator indicating less popular data objects that are not associated with the local routing entries, a processor coupled to the memory and configured to check the content routing table for an entry associated with the requested data object, and check the content indicator for a match between the requested data object and the less popular data objects when the content routing table does not comprise the entry, and a transmitter coupled to the processor and configured to send a route request message to a network controller when the content indicator check returns a positive match.

Abstract: An instruction to delete a first managing tenant among managing tenants in a system is accepted. Information included in management information of the first managing tenant and customer information unique to a customer managed by the first managing tenant is held as transfer information of the first managing tenant, and is managed using an access authority assigned to information of the customer. The held transfer information of the first managing tenant is transferred to the second management tenant when the second management tenant is determined to be a destination of the transfer from the first managing tenant.

Abstract: A solution is proposed for accessing a database by an application client. A corresponding method comprises receiving a connection command for opening a user connection between a user client of the application client and the database from the application client, the connection command comprising an indication of a context of the user client, assigning an application connection between the application client and the database to the user client in response to the connection command, and switching a context of the application connection to the context of the user client.

Abstract: Embodiments are directed towards managing persistence of network traffic using deep packet inspections of network response packets from an application server. In one embodiment, the network packets are associated with SIP messages. A traffic management device (TMD) interposed between client devices and a plurality of application servers receives messages from the client device and/or the application servers. The TMD performs a deep packet inspection to determine if a defined key value pair that includes a session identifier is detected. If so, and the message is from the application server, the session identifier is then mapped to an application server identifier to persistently refer each subsequent inbound packet from a client device having the same session identifier to the application server mapped to the session identifier.

Abstract: A first component of a network-accessible service is configured to participate in client-server interactions with other components of the service via a default communication channel. The first component has access to an alternate communication channel available only to a subset of components of the service. Using the alternate communication channel, the first component reaches a local workload agreement with a second component, in accordance with which at least some service requests of the first component or the second component are fulfilled using the alternate communication channel.

Abstract: A system for allocating a different class of service to each network connection in a plurality of network connections, where each network connection corresponds to one or more virtual channels. The system can include a plurality of virtual channels that connect a first computer and a second computer. Each virtual channel can service at least a portion of the network traffic generated using a remote-display protocol. The system can also include a plurality of network connections, where each network connection corresponds to at least one of the virtual channels. Each network connection of the system can have an assigned port number and an assigned class of service that corresponds to a transmission priority level. The class of service assigned to each network connection can be unique from the classes of service assigned to other network connections.

Abstract: Methods and arrangements for providing cooperative caching in a distributed system. A cache and a communicator are provided at a node in a distributed system. The communicator is used to communicate with at least one other node with respect to related data stored at the node and the at least one other node, via: communicating a status of the cache at the node and receiving notification of a status of at least one cache of at least one other node. There is updated, upon communicating with the at least one other node, at least one of: a cache replacement policy at the node and a cache pre-fetching policy at the node. Abstract: One embodiment of the invention includes a method of processing streaming data. The method includes initializing a stream of data and setting a time interval to apply to the stream of data. The time interval comprises a window for analyzing the data within the stream of data. The method further includes identifying one or more columns within the stream of data, designating one or more of the columns to be monitored for differences within the data over the time interval, and monitoring the designated columns over the time interval. Further, the method includes determining that at least one value from at least one of the designated columns has changed and in response to at least one value changing, outputting the changed values from the designated columns.

Abstract: Disclosed are an apparatus and method of managing network elements operating on a network. One example method may include transmitting a request to receive at least one activity parameter of a network element operating on the network and monitoring the at least one activity parameter of the network element. The method may include determining whether a usage value of the at least one activity parameter exceeds a predetermined threshold usage value and transmitting a corrective function message to the network element responsive to determining that the usage value of the at least one activity parameter exceeds the predetermined threshold value. The method may further include performing a corrective function to reduce the usage value of the at least one activity parameter.

Abstract: A system includes a policy repository configured to store a plurality of plurality of media-centric policies. A media policy decision point receives media session data corresponding to one of the plurality of media sessions; determines a plurality of media-specific and non-media specific attributes, based on the media session data; and evaluates a plurality of media-centric policies to determine a proper subset of the plurality of media-centric policies that apply to the one of the plurality of media sessions. A media policy enforcement point enforces the proper subset of the plurality of media-centric policies to control the one of the plurality of media sessions.

Abstract: A processing system includes a transport stream aggregator that receives a plurality of transport streams in a transport stream format and that generates an aggregated transport stream in response. The transport stream aggregator processes transport stream packets of the plurality of transport streams and replaces a packet synchronization field with a customized synchronization field. A processing device is configured to generate a processed video signal from the aggregated transport stream.
