Abstract: A system and method for automated tagging of one or more advertisements broadcasted on a channel in real time includes a step of detecting the one or more advertisements broadcasted on the channel, and another step of fetching a set of prominent frames and a pre-defined section of an audio clip. The set of prominent frames and the pre-defined section of the audio clip correspond to a detected advertisement. The method also includes another step of retrieving plural features. The plural features corresponds to the set of prominent frames and the pre-defined section of the audio clip. The method also includes another step of comparing each of the plurality of features with corresponding pre-defined set of features. The method also includes another step of tagging the detected advertisement with a unique tag.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus to apply household-level weights to audience measurement data at a household-member level are disclosed. An example method to determine demographics of populations to measure media audiences of populations includes determining demographics for members of a first household of a sub-population. First demographics of a first member of the first household are different than second demographics of a second member of the first household. The example method includes calculating a first household-level weight for the first household based on a demographics distribution of the sub-population and aggregate demographics of a population.

Abstract: Systems, methods, machine-readable media, and media device are provided to facilitate seamless flow content splicing to dynamically insert particularized content items in television programming content. A plurality of particularized content items may be received and stored in a content store. First content that corresponds to television programming may be received and processed to detect a first set of color characteristics of video content. A subset of the particularized content items may be selected based on matching a second set of color characteristics of the subset of the particularized content items to the first set of color characteristics of the video content corresponding to the television programming. The first content may be output for display. Then, the subset of the particularized content items may be output for display in succession so that display of the subset of the particularized content items directly follows display of the first content.

Abstract: A process that incorporates teachings of the subject disclosure may include, for example, identifying a location of a video cue frame within multimedia data based on metadata, an audio track or a combination thereof. The multimedia data is forwarded to a multimedia presentation device and the video cue frame is detected within the multimedia data based on its location. The video cue frame has an image portion including alternative multimedia content and an encoded message, wherein the alternative multimedia content is imperceptible during a normal display rate presentation at the multimedia presentation device. The alternative multimedia content is obtained by way of the video cue frame responsive to receiving a first selection of a first alternative display rate that differs from the normal display rate. The alternative multimedia content is forwarded to the multimedia presentation device based on the encoded message. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Attributes relating to a user or group of users may be collected and utilized to identify one or more recommended content items relevant to the user. A visual display of the recommended content may comprise a combination of content currently airing on a channel selected by the user as a favorite channel, content rated highly by the user and/or by other users, content matching a commonly watched genre by the user, content associated with keyword searches, etc. Factors utilized to determine the type of content to automatically include in the programming guide mosaic screen may be dynamically updated according to changes in video viewing activity, received feedback, content purchases, or changes made to the user's preference data.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a system and method for selecting media content for a group of persons located at a venue. The system and method identify a plurality of viewers in a vicinity of a venue that has one or more display devices from location data and extracts a content viewing preference of each viewer from their profile data. The process includes aggregating the content viewing preference of each of the plurality of viewers to generate an aggregated content profile. Based on the aggregated content profile, a list of content is generated. Next, a first group of viewers approaching a viewing range of a display device are sensed by imaging data. Any conflicts between content viewing preferences of the first group of viewers are detected and resolved based on weighting the viewing preferences of the group. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Abstract: Methods and systems for a media guidance application that can identify and display a portion of a media asset that is of interest to a user. In some embodiments, the media guidance application may extract a portion of the media asset that encompasses a particular main action sequence. The extracted portion may also include an amount of additional content (e.g., content immediately before or after the main action sequence) that the media guidance application determines is necessary for the user to understand the main action sequence. In some embodiments, the media guidance application may extract several media assets, so that a user may graze through the extracted portions in series.

A target video segmentation is transmitted to a piece of user equipment relatively quickly, so that caching efficiency of a caching device can be improved, and a processing burden of the caching device can be reduced. For example, a subscription service communicates with an identity service provider to authenticate subscribers requesting video content from programmers and a payment service provider to confirm that authenticated subscribers are authorized to receive the content. The subscription service receives a media request for a programmer to provide media content to a subscriber device. The media request includes subscriber information for a subscriber associated with the subscriber device. The subscription service transmits the subscriber information to an identity service provider and receives the subscriber's authentication status from the identity service provider. The subscription service sends an entitlement check request to a payment service provider to determine whether the subscriber is authorized to access the content.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for increasing media consumption. The present invention can provide viewers increased access to content of interest across various platforms, such as online articles, online audio and video clips, and television and radio broadcasts. In an embodiment, an individual viewing content online, such as a news article, is given a link. The link provides the viewer access to a list of content related to the article being viewed. The related content is not limited to the platform related content across, and allows the user to view the content, automatically set the content to be recorded by a digital video recorder, or reserve the content for future viewing. By providing the user with convenient access to content across platforms, they are more given media content of interest. Accordingly, viewership of this content will increase through this connection of individuals with content that aligns with their interests.

Abstract: According to various embodiments of the disclosed technology, it is possible for content owners to better control the presentation of owned multimedia assets. Implementations of embodiments of the technology of the present disclosure leverage the specificity and greater breadth of detailed information about the multimedia asset of temporal metadata to enable content owners to associate business rules with particular content elements of the multimedia asset. After being notified of a match through the traditional fingerprinting process, embodiments in accordance with the present disclosure can programmatically identify the exact content elements contained within the uploaded multimedia file, and accordingly apply the applicable rules. Content owners may create a list of business rules associated with particular temporal metadata tags of a multimedia assets so that fine-grained rule application is possible.

Abstract: According to the technical solution of an embodiment of the present invention, since content information is transmitted synchronously with the program scene, within the broadcast stream of data, media data, for example, advertisements, which may be of interest to the user, can be analyzed by selecting scenes at a granular level from the broadcast information. In one regard, the selected scene is being played currently, enhancing the relevance of the real-time analysis. In another regard, selecting a reduced granularity avoids statistical information overshadowing individual information. In this way, the accuracy of selecting media data with respect to a current user is improved.

Abstract: This application is directed to a method implemented on a computing device for supplementing a live broadcast displayed at a client device. The computing device analyzes descriptive information for the live broadcast and generates first keywords related to the live broadcast from the descriptive information. The computing device receives a plurality of live information streams independent from the live broadcast, and automatically without user intervention, extracts second keywords from the plurality of events. The computing device determines the relevance of each event in the plurality of events to the live broadcast by correlating the first keywords generated from the descriptive information of the live broadcast and the second keywords extracted from the plurality of events, thereby selecting a subset of the plurality of events. Information representing the subset of events is formatted for display.
