  • Patent number: 6056115
Abstract: This invention relates to a carrier for unitizing a plurality of containers wherein a sheet of resilient polymeric material is formed with a plurality of container receiving apertures aligned in opposing transverse pairs so that each container receiving aperture has a small radius defining an apex at an interior edge of the container receiving aperture. A transverse web is formed between each opposing transverse pair of container receiving apertures and an elongated aperture is positioned in the transverse web between each apex of the opposing transverse pairs of container receiving apertures. The elongated apertures are preferably sized to permit a small amount of stretch in the transverse web depending upon the diameter and/or contour of the containers resulting in controlled transverse spacing between containers regardless of diameter.

  • Patent number: 6050403
Abstract: A necktie storage case provides an envelope defining a channel sized to carry a folded necktie. A slide allows convenient manual loading and unloading of a folded necktie into the interior channel of the envelope. The slide provides an elongated body sized for travel within the interior channel of the envelope and through a slide slot defined in the envelope. The elongated body of the slide carries a necktie support panel having a size which prevents passage through the slide slot. The slide is movable between three positions, a transfer position, wherein the necktie may be manually attached or removed from the slide; a retracted position, wherein the necktie is fully retracted within the interior channel of the envelope and the elongated body of the slide is withdrawn from the interior channel; and a storage position, wherein the elongated body of the slide is folded against and attached to an outside portion of the envelope.

  • Patent number: 6047825
Abstract: A flexible pipe features an open end and a closed end. A nozzle is attached by a friction joint to the open end and features an elbow portion so that it is maintained above the level of the flexible pipe. Alternatively, the open end of the flexible pipe is elevated by a collar or stand. As a result, fluid may be retained within the flexible pipe. The nozzle or open end of the flexible pipe is also flared and features dividers so that guidewires placed within the flexible pipe may be easily accessed by a physician. The flexible pipe may be held in a coiled configuration by clamps. Alternatively, the flexible pipe may be straightened out and attached to a surface, such as the sterile drapes covering a patient, by way of one or more wire/catheter guides. Each wire/catheter guide features one or more channels positioned on a base. The channels are sized to grip the flexible pipe and the bottom of the base is provided with adhesive so the wire/catheter guide may be attached to the surface of interest.

  • Patent number: 6044974
Abstract: Matched and mated machine components, such as those on which the scrolls of scroll-type compressors are located, are fitted together, yet physically isolated from each other, by separators that are formed from corrugated paperboard. Each separator has a planar peripheral portion, which lies between and faces end surfaces on the mating components, and fingers which fit between the interfitting segments. The sets of mating machine components are placed on pads formed from paper honeycomb material, and these pads have pockets which receive one component of each set and prevent the components from shifting laterally. The pockets are derived by die cutting the honeycomb material through one of its facer sheets and then crushing the cells that lie within the cut. The pads with the sets of mating, yet isolated, components on them are stacked one upon the other. A tray lies beneath the stack and a cover fits over it and telescopes with respect to the tray to completely enclose the stack.

  • Patent number: 6036004
Abstract: The invention relates to a multi-compartment bag which provides for the separation of two substances until their desired intermixing. A specific application of this multi-compartment bag is for hot or cold chemical packs. The substances in the multi-compartment bag are separated by two breakable walls and a third compartment which together act as a barrier to migration of one substance into the second substance, which would reduce the shelf life and efficiency of the hot or cold chemical pack. The present invention's use of two breakable walls and a compartment, empty or containing an inert substance, separating two reactive substances, provides a longer shelf life, a high efficiency, more reliability and improved ease of operation.
