  • Patent number: 11452822
Abstract: A needle hub assembly for a pen needle includes a needle hub, a cannula or needle coupled to the needle hub, a retractable and compressible sleeve covering at least one end of the cannula, and an outer cover. The outer cover encloses the needle hub and the retractable sleeve. The retractable sleeve is coupled to the hub to cover the end of the cannula where the sleeve can pass through or can be pierced by the cannula and the sleeve retracts axially on the cannula. The sleeve is resilient and returns to an original configuration when an insertion force is released. The needle hub can have a first sleeve to cover a patient end of the cannula, and second sleeve to cover a non-patient end of the cannula where the sleeves retract onto the cannula or hub and expand to the original configuration to cover the ends of the cannula.

  • Patent number: 11426529
Abstract: In an elongated casing, an active agent container connected to an injection needle can be shifted axially by a spring force. Auto-injectors distributed pre-filled and with the springs tensed may be provided with a needle protecting cap to ensure sterility of the needle. When the needle protecting cap is removed as preparation for using the auto-injector, a tensile force can be exerted on the active agent container. Therefore, the active agent container and needle must be prevented from being undesirably pulled forwards. At least one latching tongue prevents the active agent container from being prematurely shifted with respect to the casing, by abutting a flange arranged on a sliding sleeve accommodating the active agent container. When the auto-injector is placed onto the skin, a needle protecting tube is shifted into the casing, forcing the latching tongue away from the flange, thereby freeing the travel path for needle movement.

  • Patent number: 11426515
Abstract: A cassette usable with an infusion pump includes a monolithic cassette body and a segment of resiliently deformable tubing for conveying a flow of liquid. The monolithic cassette body has an integrally formed free-flow protection device including a fixed pinch element and a deflectable pinch arm having a movable pinch element. The pinch arm normally resides in a closed position wherein the pinch elements cooperate to deform the tubing segment to stop flow. The pinch arm is resiliently deflectable away from the closed position to an open position permitting flow. Deflection of the pinch arm away from the closed position spring biases the pinch arm for automatic return to the closed position. The pinch arm may be moved to the open position by operating a door of the pump when the cassette is loaded in the pump, and manually for priming when the cassette is not loaded in the pump.

  • Patent number: 11406805
Abstract: Example eye treatments determine an area at a surface of a cornea for delivery of a cross-linking agent. The example treatments disrupt tissue at the area at the surface of the cornea up to a depth corresponding to apical layers of superficial squamous cells of the cornea, e.g., no greater than approximately 10 ?m to approximately 15 ?m. The example treatments apply a cross-linking agent to the area at the surface of the cornea. The cross-linking agent is transmitted through the disrupted area at a greater rate relative to non disrupted areas of the cornea. The example treatments deliver photoactivating light to the cornea. The photoactivating light activates the cross-linking agent to generate cross-linking activity in the cornea.
