Patent number: 4648535Abstract: The invention relates to an insulating jug (1) having a housing (2) with a handle (4) or like grip formed thereon and a cap (5) and a pouring opening (6) closable by a closure member (9) movable vertically between a closed and an open position by a displacement mechanism (11) with an operating member extending through the cap. The object of the invention is to improve the insulating jug so that it can be opened and closed by a simple operation with one hand, and so that improper handling is avoided. This is achieved in that the closure member (9) is pre-tensioned in the direction (30) of the closed position by the force of a spring (18), and can be held in the open position against the force of the spring (18) by the displacement mechanism (11), in that the operating member (38) of the displacement mechanism (11) is automatically restored to its closed position by the spring (18), and in that the operating member (38) extends to within finger reach of the handle (4).Type: GrantFiled: November 8, 1984Date of Patent: March 10, 1987Assignee: Rotpunkt Dr. Anso ZimmermannInventor: Anzo Zimmermann

Patent number: 4646950Abstract: A sliding nozzle plate enjoying outstanding stability to resist wear, spalling, corrosion, and particularly loss due to corrosion is produced by preparing a composition consisting of at least one refractory raw material selected from the group consisting of acidic and/or neutral refractory raw materials, carbon, metal powder, and 2 to 50% by weight, based on the total weight of the composition, of coarse and/or medium particles of an alumina-zirconia-titania mixture of 42 to 79.3% by weight of alumina, 20 to 40% by weight of zirconia, 0.5 to 16% by weight of titania, and the balance to make up 100% by weight and not more than 2% by weight of inevitably entrained elements. The composition is required to have a particle size distribution of 30 to 60% by weight of coarse and medium particles and the balance to make up 100% by weight of fine particles and/or fine powder. The composition is kneaded with a binder, molded in a prescribed shape, and subjected to firing in reducing atmosphere.Type: GrantFiled: October 26, 1984Date of Patent: March 3, 1987Assignees: Harima Refractory Co., Ltd., Nippon Steel CorporationInventors: Michihiro Gotoh, Tsuyoshi Fujimoto, Nobiru Komatsu, Yuzo Otsuki

Patent number: 4643339Abstract: An automated apparatus for manipulating a protective tube for a jet of a molten metal discharged from a tap hole of a casting ladle for selective movement of the protective tube under the tap hole and retraction therefrom, uses a first carriage displaceable along a horizontal track, a vertical shaft connected to the first carriage for displacement therewith and rotatable about its longitudinal axis, and a second carriage vertically displaceable along the shaft. A carrier arm for the tube is supported on the second carriage and a support case connects the carrier arm to the second carriage to allow horizontal movements of the carrier arm with respect to the second carriage. The carrier arm can be locked in a predetermined position with respect to the second carriage and is capable of gripping the tube.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 1985Date of Patent: February 17, 1987Assignee: Fives-Cail BabcockInventor: Patrice Petracchi

Patent number: 4640448Abstract: Apparatus is disclosed for dispensing materials into containers in precise amounts, which includes an adjustment mechanism for precisely controlling the volume of material dispensed. The dispensing apparatus comprises a dispensing wheel having a plurality of dispensing chambers arranged in a radial manner on the wheel. Each chamber includes a mechanism for varying its volume and hence the quantity of the substance received and discharged. The adjustment mechanism includes an externally accessible toothed wheel which is rotatable in one direction to increase the volume of the chamber and is rotatable in the opposite direction to decrease the chamber volume. First and second actuators are disposed relative to the dispensing wheel and are selectively operated to engage the toothed wheel on opposite sides of its rotational axis.Type: GrantFiled: June 24, 1985Date of Patent: February 3, 1987Assignee: TL Systems CorporationInventor: Hans W. Trechsel

Patent number: 4640447Abstract: An immersion pouring spout for introducing molten metal, such as steel, into an ingot mold is provided with a top head and a cylindrical pouring tube including a protective external jacket attached by cement to the pouring tube and extending the entire length of the pouring tube. The jacket material has a thermal conductivity that is less than the thermal conductivity of the pouring tube material.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 1984Date of Patent: February 3, 1987Assignee: Didier-Werke AGInventors: Heinrich Geller, Peter Nold, Heinz Schermer, Ortwin Rave

Patent number: 4638888Abstract: A non-public hydraulic elevator has three emergency systems isolated from the primary drive system: a control system, a manually activated emergency descent system, and an emergency stop system. A hydraulic brake is provided a primary and emergency brake release pressure supply by the control and manually activated emergency descent systems, respectively. The emergency stop system overrides the control system and the emergency descent system to positionally lock the elevator car. A hydraulic safety-governor system operates during descent to monitor and maintain a controlled descent speed.Type: GrantFiled: March 18, 1985Date of Patent: January 27, 1987Assignee: Brownie Manufacturing Co., Inc.Inventor: Jeffrey A.
