  • Patent number: 11434665
Abstract: The invention relates to a latching mechanism that is attachable to the outer surface of a cupboard drawer or door to prevent opening of the drawer or door by a child. The child safety latch 1 thus locks and prevents opening of a first drawer or door element 2 with respect to a second cabinet frame element 3. The latch fitting mechanism 1 includes a first engaging part 4 and a second engaging part 5. The first and second engaging parts each comprise enlarged engaging surfaces 6, 7 respectively, which provide mating surfaces to securely fit the first and second engaging parts respectively to the surfaces of the first door or drawer element 2 and the second carcass element 3. Holes are provided in the engaging surfaces 6, 7 for attachment to the inside surface of a side of the drawer or cupboard with mechanical fasteners, such as screws. The enlarged surfaces 6, 7 also serve as substrates for other securing means such as adhesive or Velcro (hook and loop) type fixing means.

  • Patent number: 11359418
Abstract: A motor vehicle lock has a pawl and a catch that may be moved into an open position, a preliminary latching position and a main latching position. In one latching position, that catch is or may be brought into holding engagement with a lock striker. During a cinching routine, the catch is moved into its main latching position by a cinching drive. An overload clutch with two clutch elements is provided in the drive train between the cinching drive and the catch. The clutch elements are in engagement with each other for the transmission of cinching forces. The engagement is load dependent in a beginning section of the cinching routine, such that the engagement, and thereby the overload clutch, is disconnected in reaction to exceeding a predefined limit load in the drive train. The engagement is load independent in the remaining, subsequent section of the cinching routine.

  • Patent number: 11332003
Abstract: This disclosure relates to a fuel or charging port door assembly of a motor vehicle. In particular, this disclosure relates to a fuel or charging port door assembly configured to permit a door to open when an override force is applied using an assist tool, for example. An example vehicle includes a door configured to move relative to a body of the vehicle between open and closed positions. The door is a fuel door or a charging port door. The vehicle also includes a lock assembly including a base and a tip. The base is configured to hold the tip during normal operating conditions, and the base and tip are configured to separate upon application of an override force to the door.

  • Patent number: 11332960
Abstract: In one aspect the present invention provides a door strike which prevents the opening of an associated door when the door strike has been heated to an elevated temperature of at least about 1000° F., preferably when the door strike is at higher temperatures such as are present during a fire in a building structure. The door strike includes a thermally responsive element which retards the normal operation of the door strike when it is at an elevated temperature. A further aspect of the invention is a method for controlling the undesired spread of a fire or smoke between adjacent spaces separated by the door wherein a fire or smoke condition exists in at least one of these spaces, via the provision of a door strike having a thermally responsive element which retards the normal operation of the door strike when it is at an elevated temperature.

  • Patent number: 11214990
Abstract: A handle apparatus for a vehicle includes a support member, a bell crank rotatable between an initial position and an operation position and causing the lock apparatus to be in a latched state and in an unlatched state, and a handle including a pressing portion. In a state where the pressing portion is in contact with a pressed portion provided at the bell crank, the handle causes, via the pressed portion and the pressing portion, the bell crank to rotate between the initial position and the operation position when the handle rotates. The apparatus includes a temporary hold member supported by the bell crank in such a manner that the temporary hold member is slidable between a first position and a second position, and the temporary hold member includes an engagement portion configured to engage with and disengage from an engaging portion provided at the support member.

  • Patent number: 11180933
Abstract: A motor-vehicle door latch device having a latch releasing member and a stopper which are rotatably supported on a base member by each shaft. The stopper holds the latch releasing member so as not to rotate in a releasing direction by rotating from a regular position to a lock position, due to an action of an inertial force caused by an impact force which is received from a first direction corresponding to a direction in which a striker enters an entrance groove. The latch releasing member has a center of gravity which deviates from its rotation center so that another inertial force, caused by another impact force which is received from a second direction opposite the first direction, acts in an opposite direction to the releasing direction.
