  • Patent number: 6644528
Abstract: A family of pill splitters is formed from a standard, substantially cylindrical lower body which contains a distinct bed for each one of a number of different complex pill shapes, and an upper body, integrally affixed to the lower body, which contains a pair of linear plunger guides slots. Each bed contains a recess having a cross section which substantially conforms to the pill shape, and the bed thickness is proportional to the thickness of the pill to be split. A long, thin cutting blade is affixed in proximity to the bed, and a bed support is formed in the lower body. A plunger with plunger guides slidingly engages the plunger guide slots. Each bed contains alignment tabs which engage the plunger guide slots to align the bed relative to the cutting blade.

  • Patent number: 6622601
Abstract: A punch unit (1) having a punch (2) that is reciprocally driven in a punching operation; and, a die (3) cooperating with the punch (2) in punching a punch hole in a soft metal sheet. A cleaning means scrapes a soft metal sheet's fragment, when the fragment is stuck to the punch (2), off of the punch (2). The cleaning means scrapes the fragment by reciprocally moving the punch (2) Further provided in the unit (1) is a punch drive and control circuit (25). The circuit (25) enables the punch to be (2) to perform lost motion at predetermined time intervals. Lost motion enables the punch (2) to scrape the fragment of the soft metal sheet off a surface of the punch (2). Consequently, the fragment of the soft metal sheet does not remain stuck to the punch (2) in the punching operation.

  • Patent number: 6478206
Abstract: A method of forming a scribe line on a work surface is carried out by a scribing apparatus comprising a scribe body including an abutment member, such as cutter provided with an penetrator, having at least first and second ridgelines and a sharp tip end portion and a vibration generating member for periodically applying vibrations to the abutment member. A vibration is applied to the abutment member with the tip end portion thereof abutting against the work surface, and the scribe body is relatively moved along the work surface to thereby form a scribe line on the work surface. In this scribing method, a first angle constituted by the first ridgeline of the abutment member and the work surface and a second angle constituted by the second ridgeline thereof and the work surface are made different from each other and the first and second ridgelines are opposed in the moving direction of the scribe body.

  • Patent number: 6477929
Abstract: An elongated horizontal extension table for miter saws for cutting molding for the sides of equiangular polygonal frames such as picture frames. The extension table has upper and lower surfaces, first and second ends, front and back edges, a hinge on the lower surface at the first end, a vertically adjustable support leg on the lower surface at the second end, and a vertical fence along the back edge. A simple stop arm extends obliquely across the upper surface of the table from the front edge to the fence and angled toward the first end of the extension table. The stop arm has a clamp that wraps around the front edge of the table, and also serves as a releasable slide for the arm. The extension table is attached to the frame of a miter saw by the hinge, and is aligned with the miter saw table by adjusting the length of the support leg. A template with angled scale lines is adhered to the horizontal surface of the extension table.

  • Patent number: 6467175
Abstract: The invention relates to a spoon for receiving soft or liquid food. Said spoon has a handle with an attached mouthpiece constructed of soft and flexible material. The aim of the invention is to significantly simplify the manner in which food is received by small children and people with facial paralysis. The spoon has a practical shape in that the mouthpiece is trough-shaped and concave and has a level defining upper edge, whereby the thickness of the mouthpiece in the front and on the lateral side is proportional so that its concave shape can be inverted by the pressure of the tongue (Z) during swallowing and the mouthpiece can adapt to the arched shape of the hard palate (G) in a sagital and transversal direction.

  • Patent number: 6351889
Abstract: A can opening appliance is provided herein. The appliance includes a primary housing having a front surface including a can opening mechanism and a rearwardly facing locking surface. A base includes at least one upwardly extending projection for slidable engagement with the primary housing and at least one forwardly facing interlock structure for releasable engagement with the locking surface of the primary housing. A housing release button, which causes the forwardly facing interlock structure and the locking surface to enter into and out of engagement, allows the primary housing to attain a plurality of vertical positions relative to the base.

  • Patent number: 6189428
Abstract: A safety device for a power tape cutter is provided to prevent accidents due to the power blade as far as possible. In the power tape cutter, which leads out adhesive tape through an outlet and cuts it to a required length using a power blade, a movable shutter, which inhibits a user's fingers from being inserted into the outlet, is disposed outside the power blade at the outlet. Due to the presence of a spring, the shutter naturally tends to close of its own accord. The movable shutter is provided with a retaining section which retains the movable shutter, locking it in an open position and unlocking it when a device driver responds to a signal to start cutting the adhesive tape. The movable shutter is also provided with a power blade drive switch which operates in conjunction with the movable shutter. When the shutter is substantially closed, the operation of the power blade drive switch causes the power blade to start to cut the adhesive tape.
