  • Patent number: 10893523
Abstract: A method and apparatus for wireless communication in the unlicensed spectrum between an eNB and UEs having different bandwidths, e.g., between a narrowband UE and a wideband eNB. A base station apparatus may perform a dual CCA procedure for a frame, wherein the dual CCA procedure comprises a first type of CCA procedure followed by a second type of CCA procedure when the first type of CCA procedure is unsuccessful. The apparatus may transmit during the frame when at least one CCA procedure of the dual CCA procedure is successful and may refrain from transmitting during the frame when both CCA procedures of the dual CCA procedure are unsuccessful. In performing the dual CCA procedure, the apparatus may perform CCA for a first period of time then perform eCCA for a second period of time following the CCA, when the CCA is unsuccessful.

  • Patent number: 10841200
Abstract: A differentiated routing system is provided for routing a communication service according to an access point of a subscriber terminal to a first network domain. The system includes a computing system executing a core routing engine (CRE) that receives a request for a communication service from the subscriber terminal. When the communication service is to be routed to a second network domain, the CRE identifies an access point at which the subscriber terminal accesses the first network domain, includes a tag in the request according to the identified access point. The tag includes information to be used by the second network domain for routing the communication service. The CRE then transmits the request to the second network domain.

  • Patent number: 10772023
Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, detecting a triggering event based on a monitoring of utilization of a target cell within a cellular network system. A configuration policy including a handover configuration parameter set is determined, responsive to the triggering event. A target cell of a plurality of neighboring cells of the source cell is identified and a handover procedure of a user equipment from the source cell to the target cell is configured based on the handover configuration parameter set. The source cell provides the handover configuration parameter set to the user equipment connected to the source cell. The user equipment, while connected to the source cell, performs handover measurements from the source cell to the target cell based on the handover configuration parameter set, and a handover of the user equipment from the source cell to the target cell is based on the handover measurements. Other embodiments are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10764906
Abstract: Described herein is a silent period method and apparatus for dynamic spectrum management. The methods include configuration and coordination of silent periods across an aggregated channel in a wireless communication system. A silent period management entity (SPME) dynamically determines silent period schedules for channels based on system and device information and assigns a silent period duration and periodicity for each silent period. The SPME may reconfigure the silent period schedule based on system delay, system throughput, channel quality or channel management events. A silent period interpretation entity (SPIE) receives and implements the silent period schedule. The silent periods for the channels may be synchronized, independent, or set-synchronized.

  • Patent number: 10757731
Abstract: Some embodiments are directed to grouping electronic devices into contention groups to reduce uplink Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) random access (OFDMA-RA) collisions. An access point may explicitly assign an electronic device to a contention group, or the electronic device may implicitly determine an assignment to the contention group. To explicitly assign a device to a contention group, the access point may randomly assign or assign based on a criteria of the electronic device. Examples of criteria include an association identifier (AID), a traffic type/quality of service (QoS) category, a power saving preference, and an association status. The electronic device may implicitly determine a contention group assignment based on the total number of contention groups. The electronic device may use the explicitly or implicitly assigned contention group number to determine whether the electronic device may contend for a given trigger frame random access (TF-R) frame.

  • Patent number: 10736170
Abstract: A wireless device receives configuration parameters of cells. The cells are grouped into timing advance groups (TAGs) comprising a secondary TAG. The cells are grouped into physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) groups comprising a secondary PUCCH group. The secondary PUCCH group comprises: a PUCCH secondary cell with a secondary PUCCH and a first secondary cell. The PUCCH secondary cell is in the secondary TAG. In response to a time alignment timer of the secondary TAG expiring or stopping: transmission of positive or negative acknowledgement for one or more HARQ processes of an activated cell in the secondary PUCCH group is stopped, reception of downlink shared channel transport blocks via the first secondary cell is stopped, and reception of downlink multicast channel transport blocks via the first secondary cell is continued.

  • Patent number: 10728924
Abstract: A guard period for switching between uplink and downlink subframes is created by shortening an uplink subframe, i.e., by not transmitting during one or more symbol intervals at the beginning of the subframe interval. A grant message includes signaling indicating when a shortened subframe should be transmitted. An example method is implemented in a first wireless node configured to transmit data in transmit subframes occurring at defined subframe intervals and having a predetermined number of symbol intervals. This example method includes determining (1620) that a transmit subframe is to be shortened, relative to the predetermined number of symbol intervals and, in response to this determination, shortening (1630) transmission of the transmit subframe by not transmitting during a beginning portion of the subframe interval for the transmit subframe and transmitting during the remainder of the subframe interval.

  • Patent number: 10716114
Abstract: Technology described herein provides systems and technologies that help avoid waste of wireless network resources due to frequent losses of wireless connectivity with energy-harvesting devices (EHDs). An energy-harvesting-indicator communication can be sent from a wireless device to a cellular base station to inform the cellular base station that the wireless device is an EHD. The cellular base station can preserve context information and/or DL data pertaining to a wireless connection with the EHD when a wireless connection is lost due to a temporarily low level of available energy at the EHD. The context information and/or DL data can be preserved by the cellular base station until the period of time elapsed exceeds a threshold time value. Upon receiving a connection-resumption communication from the EHD, the cellular base station can use preserved context information to restore the wireless connection and proceed to send preserved DL data to the EHD.

  • Patent number: 10705818
Abstract: Embodiments relate to systems and methods for a self-moving operating system installation in cloud-based network. A guest operating system can be instantiated in a cloud-based host environment to support a set of virtual machines. The operating system can be configured with resources in the kernel to detect and manage the identity of the cloud in which the operating system is installed, as well as to interrogate potentially new target host clouds to determine the configuration settings required to move or copy the guest operating system to that target. The resulting mobility of the guest operating system affords the ability to be self-moving, and an administrator or other user can simply specify a desired target cloud to host the operating system without a need to manually configure APIs or other resources.
