Abstract: A backlighted liquid crystal display assembly mounted on a circuit substrate. The circuit substrate has contact pads formed thereon for electrical connection with the assembly. The assembly includes a liquid crystal display (LCD) screen panel and an electroluminescent (EL) panel for providing backlighting of the LCD screen panel. Each panels is formed as a thin, flat panel and has contact pads for external electrical connection. The assembly also includes a pair of electrical-interconnection rubber members, each having a plurality of conductive areas formed of a conductive rubber material and a plurality of insulating area formed of an insulating rubber material and separating the conductive areas from each other.
