Abstract: A shoulder support device includes a flexible elastic continuous ring band and a slide adjustably movable on the band that divides the band into a pair of loops defining arm receiving apertures that are cupped over the curved deltoid region of each shoulder of a wearer to pull the shoulders back and downward under tension to achieve a correct posture position. The slide is moveable to adjust tension distributed to the wearer's shoulders. When the slide is positioned midway between the shoulder blades at the back of the wearer, it provides equal distributed tension on both shoulders. Moving the slide more to the left or more to the right allows the wearer to selectively adjust which shoulder receives more tension.
Abstract: A system including a support panel and a fixation device for use in radiation therapy is disclosed. The support panel comprises a generally planar member that is arranged to be disposed adjacent an apparatus for producing a radiation beam to support a portion of the patient to which the radiation beam will be directed. The fixation device is arranged to be releasably secured to the support panel to hold the portion of the patient's body at a desired position. The fixation device includes attachment components which enable the releasable securement of the fixation device to the support panel without creating any attenuation discontinuities of a radiation beam passing therethrough.

Abstract: A reduced-pressure treatment system for treating a wound on a patient includes a composite manifold that may help prevent or minimize injury to a wound edge of the wound being treated with reduced pressure. The composite manifold includes a perimeter manifold member and an inboard manifold member. The perimeter manifold member is designed to not collapse substantially under reduced pressure in a therapy range. The perimeter manifold member may be more rigid with respect to compressibility than the inboard manifold member. A sealing member is used to form a fluid seal over the wound, and a reduced-pressure subsystem provides reduced pressure to the composite manifold. Other systems, methods, and dressings are presented.

Abstract: An arcuate base section with upper and lower surfaces separated by a thickness has an arcuate exterior periphery with a central front point and laterally spaced rear points, an arcuate interior periphery generally concentric with the exterior periphery, a width and a depth. Two lateral support sections and a central support section are in an arcuate configuration and have inner and outer surfaces separated by a thickness. The support sections have free upper edges and lower edge separated by a height. The lateral support sections are perpendicular to and integrally formed with the base section at the exterior periphery adjacent to the rear points. The central support section is perpendicular to and integrally formed with the base section at the interior periphery adjacent to the central front point. The system is fabricated in one piece of a material with limited flexibility and elasticity.
Abstract: A compression garment for applying compression to a part of a wearer's body includes a flexible member, an inflatable bladder defining an inflatable chamber, and a port for communication between a source of pressurized air and the inflatable chamber. The garment also incorporates noise attenuation. The noise attenuation can include noise attenuating members on an air impingement surface of the inflatable bladder.
Abstract: An orthosis for the treatment of congenital, developmental and degenerative spinal deformities or misalignments, including an upper thoracic component adapted to cover part or the whole thorax and made in non-elastic material, a pelvic component adapted to encircle the pelvis and made in elastic-material and reinforced with non-elastic materials, a non-elastic strapping system adapted to encircle the pelvis transversely and providing a stable fitting, resistant to transverse plane rotations and proximal migration, and at least four removable, corrective elastic bands running obliquely around part or all of the body circumference and attach from the thoracic component (right shoulder, left shoulder, right distal thorax, left distal thorax) to posterior-lateral and/or anterior sections of the pelvic component.
Abstract: Provided is a waist support with a disc protection belt having functions of strongly pulling and fixing the backbone as well as extending the backbone.
Abstract: A portable and rechargeable cast ventilating system adapted for use on casts, the system comprises of a portable fluid flow manipulations device, a manifold collar, and at least one tube. The system is attached to a cast being worn by a user so that each tube is inserted between the cast and the body part of the user being covered by the cast, the manipulation collar is attached to the cast so that the collar operatively connects to the tubes, and the portable fluid flow manipulation device operatively connects to the collar. The system delivers a fluid flow within a cast being worn by the user. The temperature of the fluid flow delivered to areas being covered by the cast might be controlled by a heat transfer element of the fluid flow manipulation device.
Abstract: The invention concerns a relaxant device of the cervical spine muscles of a human being, consisting of counterweight (c) and relative support (10, 11, 12) on a skull, suitable to arrange the counterweights in the rear part of the skull, the counterweights being such as to substantially balance the weight of the skull with respect to the rotation fulcrum thereof.
Abstract: A hinge assembly for an orthopedic brace includes, among other things, an outer plate adapted to fit over a lateral side of a hinge to protect mechanical components of the hinge. The outer plate includes an inner surface and an outer surface, and a connector housing formed below the outer surface.
Abstract: A device for use with a bed having a frame and a supporting surface includes a flexible sheet with a tether strap connected to the sheet and extending from the sheet. The flexible sheet has opposed top and bottom surfaces, with the top surface having a high friction material with a higher coefficient of friction as compared to the bottom surface, which includes a low friction material. The tether strap is configured for connection to the frame of the bed to secure the sheet in place. A system incorporating the flexible sheet may also include an absorbent pad configured to be placed on the top surface of the sheet, where the high-friction top surface resists sliding of the absorbent pad, as well as one or more wedges having a base wall that the wedge rests on and a ramp surface configured to confront the sheet when the wedge is placed under the sheet. The base wall and the ramp surface may also contain high friction and low friction materials, respectively.

Abstract: A compression garment has panels of elasticized fabric joined by seams of flat lock stitching to define, when worn, specific areas of compression, areas of compression being the perineum, caesarian wound area and rectus abdominus muscles or the perineum and the pelvic joints.
Abstract: The current invention is an accommodating apparel or brace. It is intended to be convenient and comfortable. When the brace wearer is at rest, the brace exerts only modest forces against the body. When the brace wearer is active, the brace tightens and diverts load to protect the body part. The brace accommodation may include application of stronger fixation when activity begins and which persists as long as the activity does. It may also include application of forces around the body part to shift load away from the target part. The accommodation also includes relaxation of forces applied to the wearer when the wearer relaxes.
