  • Patent number: 4413754
Abstract: This invention relates to an apparatus for dispensing small quantities of fluid which comprises a hinged clamping member with a bellows attachment for receiving an elongated cylindrical tube containing fluid and having sealed ends, wherein the hinged clamping member consists of two half-shells which enclose an inner space; the two half-shells are enclosed by a retaining and supporting member; the retaining and supporting member consists of symmetrical halves which are connected to each other by a hinge; the inner diameter of the inner space corresponds to the outer diameter of the tube; the two halves of the retaining and supporting member have, adjacent to the hinge, recesses with stops and, on the side opposite the hinge, a locking or snap-fit member; the hinged half-shells comprise, at one end, a shaft whose outer diameter corresponds to the inner diameter of the cylindrical shaft of a bellows attachment; the bellows attachment is provided with an opening which permits the bellows attachment to be pushed u

  • Patent number: 4411389
Abstract: The invention provides a filler gun suitable for injecting a mixture of particulate solid and liquid binder into a cavity, for example the wall cavity of a building, which comprises a hollow body having an outlet at one end, a binder inlet for liquid binder at the other end, and a side inlet for granular or particulate solid, which side inlet is directed towards the outlet at an angle of less than 90.degree. with respect to the direction of flow of liquid binder from the binder inlet to the outlet in operation of the gun, wherein an outlet sleeve is releasably located in the body between the side inlet and the one end and an inlet sleeve is releasably located in the body between the side inlet and the other end, the inlet sleeve having an axial bore and a side passage opening into the bore which passage is adapted for the reception of a liquid binder supply line, and the body is slotted to enable withdrawal of the inlet sleeve therefrom without prior detachment of the supply line.

  • Patent number: 4410104
Abstract: A vending apparatus well suited for vending such articles as newspapers, magazines or the like which vary in size, in which the articles to be vended are supplied to one side of an access opening in the vending apparatus enclosure. Access opening gating normally in a closed position prevents removal of an article unless, after paying a prescribed fee, the customer operates a gating actuator to cause the gating to be shifted to an open position in which an article can be removed through the access opening. Removal of the article causes the release of the gating permitting it to be returned to its normally closed position. The size of the access opening is readily adjustable, preferably by tubular members movable to more or less obstruct the access opening, and including elongated blocking members one of which extends through each of the tubular adjusting members to close the access opening.

  • Patent number: 4407436
Abstract: A metering and/or feeding device for materials is disclosed. A plurality of vertically oriented, elastic-walled tubes are arranged at equal distances from the axis of a rotatable helical rod which, as it rotates, sequentially engages and constricts each of the elastic-walled tubes, beginning at their upper portions and progressively moving down the length of the tubes. The material being metered and/or fed is introduced into the elastic-walled tubes at their upper ends. A cover member is provided to cover the infeed ends of the tubes at selected intervals to prevent entry of the material being fed and/or metered into the tube at the time that the helical member engages the upper portion of the tube to constrict the tube so that it is substantially free of material. A plenum, through which a stream of pressurized gas is discharged, communicates with the discharge ends of each of the tubes, the gas conveying the material entering the plenum from the tubes to a work location.

  • Patent number: 4397409
Abstract: Toner dispensing apparatus comprising a toner hopper, the walls of which form an elongated opening from which toner is capable of being dispensed and a dispensing roll to dispense toner from the hopper through the elongated opening into the developer chamber. The dispensing roll is a cylindrical resiliently deformable foam roll having a plurality of depressions of predetermined size, shape and volume uniformly disposed on the roll and being capable of holding finely divided toner. The deformable foam roll including the depressions has a thin toner impermeable surface, the thin toner impermeable surface and the foam roll of the dispensing roll being separate layers bonded together at their interface. In a specific embodiment, the depressions are a plurality of longitudinal surface grooves parallel to the axis of the roll and uniformly spaced around the circumference of the roll.

  • Patent number: 4397405
Abstract: Fuel dispensing apparatus having a high-flow valve downstream of the fuel delivery hose and a solenoid operated pilot valve for the high-flow valve and a solenoid operated low-flow valve upstream of the fuel delivery hose. Flexible tubes within the fuel delivery hose connect the pilot valve to the high-flow valve and connect both pilot and low-flow valves for conducting fuel to downstream of the high-flow valve.
