  • Patent number: 4776516
Abstract: An air-assist fuel injection nozzle has an externally actuated plunger journaled for axial movement in the cylinder provided in a nozzle body. The plunger tip contains a central stepped bore which slidably supports a spring bias injection needle valve therein. The plunger, when it is in a raised position, allows a valve controlled supply passage to deliver a metered quantity of liquid fuel into a chamber defined by the cylinder and the valve and of the plunger. The cylinder at the chamber end is closeable by a gas valve disk which in turn has a central aperture defining a discharge passage flow through which is controlled by the inward opening injection needle valve.

  • Patent number: 4775105
Abstract: An electrostatic powder spray gun comprises a powder cup and is constructed such that the powder cup comprises a removable cover which is secured to the pistol tube of the gun in an easily-detachable manner, whereby a conveying tube and an air tube extend through the cover and are held thereat. The air tube projects beyond the cover and, given the cover secured to the pistol tube, projects into a spring-loaded discharge valve of the compressed air feed line and thereby holds the same in the open position against spring pressure. Given the cover secured to the pistol tube, the orifice of a powder channel extending in the pistol tube is constructed as a connection for a powder feed line leading from a remote powder preparation system.

  • Patent number: 4767062
Abstract: An air fertilizer spreader mounted on a truck chassis, the truck chassis carrying a granular or pulverized fertilizer application machine. Right and left booms swing from a midship position between a truck cab and fertilizer box back towards the rear of the truck chassis. Each boom includes a plurality of boom tubes with deflectors. Rear boom tubes are also provided at the rear of the truck chassis. A screw conveyor carries fertilizer from the fertilizer transport box to an area forward of the fertilizer transport box where the fertilizer falls into opposing metering assemblies for the right and left boom. Air, acting through particle accelerators carries the fertilizer from the metering assembly to the entrance of the boom tubes, and a second particle accelerator provides additional air flow to carry the fertilizer down the length of each of the boom tubes to the point of discharge.

  • Patent number: 4749125
Abstract: A nozzle apparatus and method for electrically charging and dispensing fluids and other flowable materials, comprising a fluid reservoir and a housing. The housing includes walls which define a chamber having an elongated slot at the tip thereof. The slot is resiliently compressible. The reservoir communicates with the chamber such that the fluid is introduced into the chamber at a controlled rate and a low hydrostatic pressure. A shim is placed within the chamber slot partially occluding fluid flow through the slot. The shim and the amount of compression of the slot defines with precision the size and shape of the slot. The shim and fluid are electrically connected to a high voltage source through the housing. The fluid forms a meniscus about the housing slot whereby upon actuation of the high voltage source, the fluid is dispensed as one or more charged fluid paths or a plurality of charged droplets.
