  • Patent number: 4920292
Abstract: A step motor which, in addition to an exciter system for step-by-step movement, is provided with an axial exciter system. As a result of the direct or indirect influence of the magnetic field generated by the secondary exciter system on the rotor which is supported, so as to be able to move in an axial direction with respect to the stator, the rotor can be induced to move in a direction perpendicular to its step-by-step rotary motion, as well. Both exciter systems can be energized independently of one another, so that step-by-step rotary movement can be performed at any axial position of the rotor and the rotor can be made to move in an axial direction during its rotary movement as well as when it is at rest.

  • Patent number: 4920293
Abstract: A squirrel-cage induction motor having a sectional stator comprising a first stator fixedly held on a frame, and a second stator circumferentially movably supported on the frame beside the first stator. The second stator is displaced relative to the first stator through a gear mechanism by a control motor through an angle meeting operating conditions of the squirrel-cage motor required by the load. Thus, the squirrel-cage induction motor has satisfactory response characteristics, and the second stator can manually be turned in case the component of the mechanism for driving the second stator, for example, the control motor, malfunctions.

  • Patent number: 4920475
Abstract: An integrated traction inverter and battery charger apparatus which is capable of operating in either drive or charge modes. The apparatus integrates the components of a prior art three-phase inverter with an AC line-powered prior art DC source charger in a manner which recognizes that an input capacitor and certain components of a three-phase bridge inverter are capable of performing dual functions and thus can be active in both modes. Therefore, in the integration of the prior art devices some of the components are eliminated allowing savings in cost and weight of, and space required by, the components of the integrated inverter/charger apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4920472
Abstract: A crest factor correction circuit for an ac inverter receives inputs including a full-wave rectified output of the ac inverter having a fixed period and a periodic sequence of phase signals that divide each fixed period into predetermined phase intervals. An amplitude and crest factor signal circuit responds to the absolute value signal to provide an amplitude control signal proportional to the negative integral of the difference between the absolute value signal and a set reference voltage. The amplitude and crest factor signal circuit also provides a crest control signal proportional to the negative integral of the difference between the filtered peak value of the absolute value signal and a given reference voltage times a predetermined gain. A series resistor network responds to the amplitude control signal and to the crest control signal and provides a series of tap signals. Each tap signal is proportional to a respective predetermined ratio of the amplitude control signal.
