  • Patent number: 5407212
Abstract: A game for testing reflex and reaction times in people is provided. The game has a vertical housing mounted to a planar base. The vertical housing defines a channel enclosing a pair of shafts. A card is provided to move along a first shaft and a lifter is provided to move along a second shaft. The lifter engages the card and sets it in an upper limit. A solenoid keeps the card at its upper limit. A start button enables the solenoid to release the card permitting downward movement of the card. A pair of finger grabbers inserted through side walls of the housing enable a player to grab the falling card. Prize lines on a front surface of the card determine if a player has won a prize. A cheat detection system is additionally provided to prohibit a player from grabbing the card before it has initiated downward movement.

  • Patent number: 5388840
Abstract: An improved dart flight with a stepped configuration on its leading and trailing edges is provided. The dart flight of the present invention enables a player to closely group darts with accuracy without unwanted deflection. The dart flight of the present invention includes a stepped configuration on the leading and trailing edges of both the horizontal and vertical vane components of the dart flight. When an incoming dart approaches a target in close proximity to a stationary dart already in the target, the leading stepped edge of the incoming dart communicates with the trailing stepped edge of the stationary dart to urge the dart flight on the incoming dart to be ejected from the shaft of the incoming dart. Since the dart flight is ejected, it cannot ride on the dart flight of the stationary dart to cause deflection and alteration of flight path. As a result, dart throwing accuracy can be maintained in close dart groupings.

  • Patent number: 5374054
Abstract: A basketball apparatus used in a seated or reclined position includes a backboard and hoop assembly, a catch net, a return trough, and a trough support cushion. The catch net is suspended from L-beams attached to the backboard, and feeds thrown balls along a downwardly inclined bottom surface to the return trough, and ultimately to the user. The trough is attached to the net such that the net is held tautly in shape on the L-beams. To return thrown balls, whether or not they had been thrown through the hoop, the net surrounds the hoop on three sides and is sized to allow leeway for missed balls. On the underside of the return trough a support cushion is attached which allows the opening of the trough to be comfortably positioned on a user's lap. The basketball apparatus is specifically adapted for in-home use by bedridden individuals.

  • Patent number: 5354068
Abstract: A broadhead for an arrow having a locking mechanism which insures true alignment of the longitudinal axis of the broadhead with the longitudinal axis of the shaft of the arrow. A securing member has longitudinal slots extending from opposite ends thereof. Each slot extends more than half the length of the securing member. The securing member is positioned over and screwed to an inner member, which is one of the arrow shaft and broadhead, and fitted within an outer member, which is the other of the arrow shaft and broadhead. When the inner member is screwed to the securing member the latter expands radially pressing it firmly against the inside of the outer member to secure the broadhead to the shaft. Because the securing member has longitudinally overlapping slots extending from opposite ends the radial expansion is uniform over the length of the securing member.
