  • Patent number: 8380862
Abstract: A system and method for claiming a user-specific website associated to a user's telephone number is disclosed. The present invention provides for user identity verification through telephone number detection. The user-specific website requested is associated to the telephone number of the requesting user. This prevents the potential for anonymity, which is found in present methods. Potential users must “authenticate” that they have access to the phone number of the website that they are attempting to claim. Website claiming can be done by first requesting a user-specific website online and then accessing the system's telephone service for phone number verification. In the alternative, website claiming can be performed by first calling the system phone number for phone verification, followed by online website claim completion.

  • Patent number: 7822829
Abstract: A method for interfacing scanned product information with a source for the product over a global network. A method is provided for obtaining information regarding the source of a product from a remote information source location on a global communication network utilizing a product code associated with the product and unique thereto. The product code associated with the product is scanned with a scanner at a user location on the global communication network to extract the information contained in the unique product code therefrom. A unique scan ID code is associated with the scanning operation and a packet of information assembled that is comprised of the extracted product code and the unique scan ID code to provide a routing packet.

  • Patent number: 7765323
Abstract: In general, in one aspect, the disclosure describes a method to assign unique addresses to each sink device in a content network based on port numbers of a source and branch devices in the network. Sink devices connected to a port on the source or the branch devices are assigned a corresponding port number as a sink address. Branch devices connected to a port on the source or higher level branch devices have a corresponding port number prepended to the previously assigned sink addresses.

  • Patent number: 7747755
Abstract: A method and apparatus to provide a general-purpose timeout management system for client-specific session objects. In one embodiment a timeout service is created that may be used by more than one Java Enterprise EJB container simultaneously, avoiding unnecessary duplication of timeout management services. Each EJB container may instantiate an “invalidation agent” which registers a callback interface with the timeout service. The timeout service invokes a timeout callback method on registered invalidation agents at specified time intervals. The time intervals correspond to the timeout values associated with the client-specific objects, obviating the need for the EJB container to make time-consuming queries to the system clock. The invention discloses a “timeout marker” data element associated with each client-specific session object created by the EJB container. Whenever a client accesses a client-specific session object, the timeout marker associated with that object is cleared.

  • Patent number: 7743111
Abstract: A shared storage distributed file system is presented that provides users and applications with transparent access to shared data stored on network attached storage devices by utilizing layering techniques to inherit file management functionality from existing file systems. The present invention stores meta-data for the shared data as real-data in a standard, non-modified, client-server distributed file system, such as NFS. In effect, the standard client-server file system acts as a meta-data server. The name space consisting of inode files stored as real-data on the meta-data server acts as the name space for the shared data. Similarly, file attributes of the inode files are utilized as the file attributes of the shared data. By utilizing an existing client-server system as the meta-data server, development time and complexity are greatly reduced, while speed advances in the underlying client-server system may be incorporated without alteration of the present invention.

  • Patent number: 7743144
Abstract: To secure an access provider, communications to/from the access provider are monitored for a partially-completed connection transaction. Detected partially-completed connection transactions are terminated when they remain in existence for a period of time that exceeds a threshold period of time. The monitoring may include detecting partially-completed connection transactions initiated by an access requestor, measuring the period of time that a partially-completed connection transaction remains in existence, comparing the period of time with the threshold period of time, and resetting a communication port located on the access provider.

  • Patent number: 7739380
Abstract: A multi-tiered server management architecture is employed including an application development tier, an application operations tier, and a cluster operations tier. In the application development tier, applications are developed for execution on one or more server computers. In the application operations tier, execution of the applications is managed and sub-boundaries within a cluster of servers can be established. In the cluster operations tier, operation of the server computers is managed without concern for what applications are executing on the one or more server computers and boundaries between clusters of servers can be established. The multi-tiered server management architecture can also be employed in co-location facilities where clusters of servers are leased to tenants, with the tenants implementing the application operations tier and the facility owner (or operator) implementing the cluster operations tier.

  • Patent number: 7720981
Abstract: A controlled device executes processing for device authentication and processing for device registration, receives a response of registration completion from a direct-access management server, and sets an automatic connection flag indicating the registration is completed. When the automatic connection flag is not set, the controlled device establishes an always-on connection session with the direct-access management server after executing the processing for the device authentication and the processing for the device registration. When the automatic connection flag is set, the controlled device skips the processing for the device authentication and the processing for the device registration to enter processing for establishing an always-on connection session.

  • Patent number: 7720949
Abstract: A relay control apparatus is arranged between clients and a CoD system. The relay control apparatus accepts process requests from the clients and stores the process requests. If the CoD system is installing a server in addition to existing servers, the relay control apparatus provides a control so that requests unprocessable with the existing servers are not passed to the CoD system until the installation of the server is completed. When the installation of the server is completed, servers that can process, within a predetermined period, a volume of requests at that time and a volume of requests retained by that time are secured.

  • Patent number: 7716351
Abstract: The spam blocker monitors the SMTP/TCP/IP conversation between a sending message transfer agent MTA—0 and a receiving message transfer agent MTA—1; catches MTA—0's IP address IP—0, MTA—0's declared domain D—0, from-address A—0; and to-address A—1; and uses this source and content based information to test for unsolicited messages. It interrupts the conversation when MTA—0 sends a RCPT command and uses the various test results to decide if the message is suspected of being unsolicited. If the message is suspected of being unsolicited and to-address is not in the save_spam database then the spam blocker logs the rejected message, sends an error reply to MTA—0 which forces MTA—0 to terminate the connection before the body of the message is transmitted.
