  • Patent number: 10425511
Abstract: A routing method checks a network path selected for transmitting a stream of packets between a first routing node and a second routing node in a computer network. The stream of packets complies with a first transport protocol. The method forwards, from the first routing node toward the second routing node, a set of handshake packets. The set of handshake packets includes change information indicating a change in the transport protocol for a plurality of the packets in the stream. The method modifies the plurality of packets in the stream (“modified packets”). Specifically, the method modifies the first transport protocol header in the plurality of packets in the stream to have a second transport protocol header of a second transport protocol. This modification preferably does not increase the packet size of each of modified packets.

  • Patent number: 10412145
Abstract: The present invention relates to systems and methods for network labeling in order to enhance real time data transfers. A network for a real time data transfer is identified and predictive models for network performance are compared against to determine if the network is suitable for the data transfer. If so, then the real time data transfer may be completed as expected. However, if the network is predicted to be unsuitable for transmission an alternate means for connection may be suggested. The alternate suggestion may include delaying the data transfer until the network is expected to be in better conditions, connecting to another access point in the network, or switching to another network entirely. During the data transfer, the quality of the network is monitored in order to update the predictive models for the network's quality. Identifiers for the network may be utilized to keep track of the networks.

  • Patent number: 10397284
Abstract: A system and method are provided for recovering a communication session between a client device and a participant device is performed by a server running a central service. The server detects that the client device has lost connection to the participant device and proceeds to maintain the connection to the participant device. In certain embodiments, the server determines why the client device lost connection and selects a second device in close proximity to the client device using information from a user profile associated with the client device. The server then proceeds to establish a connection between the client device and the participant device.

  • Patent number: 10389504
Abstract: Systems and techniques are disclosed to enhance the efficiency of available bandwidth between UEs and base stations. A UE transmits a sounding reference signal to the base station, which characterizes the uplink channel based on the SRS received and, using reciprocity, applies the channel characterization for the downlink channel. The base station may form the beam to the UE based on the uplink channel information obtained from the SRS. As the downlink channel changes the base station needs updated information to maintain its beamforming, meaning it needs a new SRS. Transmission of the SRS takes resources; to minimize this, the UE or the base station can determine a period during which the downlink channel will predictably remain coherent and set up a schedule for sending SRS. Alternatively, the UE or the base station can determine on demand that the channel is losing coherence and initiate an on demand SRS.

  • Patent number: 10382177
Abstract: Systems and techniques are disclosed to reduce pilot overhead by providing common reference signals coded with cover codes that are orthogonal in time and frequency domains. Common reference signals that are coded by cover codes orthogonal in both domains can be de-spread in both the time and frequency domains for improved resolution and larger pull-in windows for both. Also disclosed is semi-uniform pilot spacing in both the frequency and time domains. In a time domain, a first pilot symbol pair is spaced by a first time interval from each other and a second pilot symbol pair is spaced by a second time interval from the first pair, the second interval being greater than the first. In a frequency domain, a first set of pilot symbols is densely placed in a selected frequency band and a second set of pilot symbols is sparsely placed surrounding and including the selected frequency band.

  • Patent number: 10382529
Abstract: A method of determining the span of logical entities in a network is provided. The method generates a directed graph. Each node of the graph corresponds to a logical network entity. Each edge of the graph has one or two directions. A direction from a first node to a second node identifies the first node as the source of span for the second node. The method determines the span of each node based on the direction of the edges of the directed graph. The method groups each set of nodes that are accessible by all other nodes in the set in a strongly connected group (SCC) sub-graph. The method generates a group node in a directed acyclic graph (DAG) to correspond to each SCC sub-graph in the directed graph. The method assigns the span of each SCC to the corresponding group node of the DAG.

  • Patent number: 10348616
Abstract: A packet transmission method, packet transmission apparatus, and an interconnect interface are presented, where the method includes determining, by a sending node, whether an unrecoverable failure occurs in an active link, and if an unrecoverable failure occurs in the active link, selecting, from multiple communication links, at least one standby link except the active link to send a packet to a receiving node, so that the receiving node sends the packet to a receive end of the active link. In the method, for two nodes in an interconnect system that communicate with each other using multiple Links, when it is determined that an unrecoverable failure occurs in some of the Links, packets in retransmission buffers of transmit ends of the links in which the failure is unrecoverable are sent to a standby link.

  • Patent number: 10348623
Abstract: A communication system includes: a first forwarding apparatus located at an end point of a network, a second forwarding apparatus located at an end point of the network, and a control apparatus that constructs a virtual network by controlling the first and second forwarding apparatuses. The control apparatus sets in the first forwarding apparatus, a first processing rule such that, when the first forwarding apparatus receives a packet into which is inserted a first tag including an identifier for identifying the virtual network, the first forwarding apparatus inserts a second tag into the received packet and sends the received packet from a prescribed port. The control apparatus sets, in the second forwarding apparatus, a second processing rule such that, when the second forwarding apparatus receives the packet into which is inserted the second tag, the second forwarding apparatus removes the second tag and sends from a prescribed port.

  • Patent number: 10341230
Abstract: Examples are disclosed for forwarding or receiving data segments associated with a large data packets. In some examples, a large data packet may be segmented into a number of data segments having separate headers that include identifiers to associate the data segments with the large data packet. The data segments with separate headers may then be forwarded from a network node via a communication channel. In other examples, the data segments with separate headers may be received at another network node and then recombined to form the large data packet at the other network node. Other examples are described and claimed.

  • Patent number: 10333730
Abstract: An approach is provided for protecting a network from a unicast flood. If the destination MAC address of a frame is not included in a table of unknown MAC addresses, the MAC address is added to the table and the frame is forwarded to non-blocked spanning tree links to find the MAC address in the network. If the MAC address is included in the table, and if a timer for suppressing forwarding of frames is active, the frame is discarded, or if the timer is inactive, a counter for counting received frames is incremented and compared to a threshold value. If the counter is greater than the threshold value, the timer is activated and the frame is discarded. If the counter is not greater than the threshold value, the frame is forwarded to the non-blocked spanning tree links to find the MAC address in the network.
