  • Patent number: 8825186
Abstract: The invention concerns digital audio processing and in particular the detection of periods where samples can be deleted or repeated unobtrusively so as to change the average sample-rate or to provide time delay modification. Differences between succeeding sample values are evaluated and compared with a threshold and samples are deleted or repeated where two or more consecutive sample value differences are less than the said threshold value.

  • Patent number: 8788078
Abstract: A dedicated ratings input is presented for a portable media player. The input may take the form of a physical switch or pre-identified movements recorded by an accelerometer. Movement of the switch into one of the two positions sets a rating for the currently playing media file. The physical ratings switch is not used during the playing of media files for any purpose other than the rating of media files. This allows the user to alter the rating by moving the switch without requiring any visual interaction with the portable media player. Audio feedback is provided when the switch is used to change the ratings of the media files.

Abstract: A method of reproducing a stereo output signal (having a left field and a right field) represented as digital samples such that said stereo signal emulates the production of said audio signal from a specified audio source location relative to a listening source location (an indicated location). A left channel signal is produced by convolving an audio input signal with a broadband response file, selected from a plurality of stored files derived from empirical testing, dependant upon the indicated location. A right channel signal is also produced in this way. The left and right channel signals are each duplicated for playing through each of a plurality of displaced left field loudspeakers and displaced left field loudspeakers displaced right field loudspeakers respectively. • Patent number: 8644971
Abstract: A system provides music that matches the mood of an e-book when the e-book is read on an e-Reader. The system comprises several sub-components to calculate a user's average reading speed, analyze the e-book for moods, match music to each mood, track music played and purchased, record user's music preference, and play the matched music based on the user's music preference. The moods are indexed as adjectives, adverbs, and onomonopias. A change in mood triggers a change in music played in a wall-to-wall or movie mode. When a user does not have a music preference, the system chooses a default music based on genre, style, and mode based on the analyzed mood. When the system plays music in the movie mode to match a predetermined number of moods, the system fades the music to a pause equal to the predetermined number before resuming the music based on a current mood.
