  • Patent number: 11134441
Abstract: A device may receive signal information associated with a wireless signal or charge information associated with a charge level. The signal information may indicate a signal strength of the wireless signal. The charge information may indicate the charge level of a battery of the device. The device may determine whether the signal strength or the charge level satisfies a threshold. The device may configure a parameter or a setting of the device to cause the device to operate according to a long term evolution (LTE) category based on determining whether the signal strength or the charge level satisfies the threshold. The LTE category may be different from a default LTE category of the device and may define an uplink/downlink capability specification. The device may attach to a network in association with configuring the parameter or the setting to cause the device to operate according to the LTE category.

  • Patent number: 11095414
Abstract: In a wireless communication system, a control channel is required in order to use limited resources effectively. However, the control channel resource is part of the system overhead, and thus reduces the data channel resource used for data transmission. In the long term evolution (LTE) system based on OFDM, one sub frame the consists of fourteen OFDM symbols wherein a maximum of three OFDM symbols are used for the control channel resource and remaining eleven OFDM symbols are used for the data channel resource. Therefore, the quantity of energy that can be transmitted for the control channel resource is extremely limited compared to the data channel resource. For this reason, the coverage of the control channel becomes less than that of the data channel, and even if a user can successfully receive the data channel, reception failure of a control channel sometimes results in failure of data recovery.

  • Patent number: 10986510
Abstract: An electronic device may be provided with wireless circuitry and control circuitry. The wireless circuitry may include a phased antenna array. Sensors and other circuitry in the electronic device may generate sensor data such as accelerometer data, gyroscope data, magnetometer data, location data, and spatial ranging data. The wireless circuitry may establish and maintain one or more wireless links with external devices based on the sensor data as the device moves over time. For example, the wireless circuitry may perform physical layer beam adjustments, inter-radio access technology handovers, intra-radio access technology handovers, and/or dual connectivity adjustments based on the sensor data. This may allow the device to maintain one or more wireless links without having to sweep the signal beam of the phased antenna array over its entire field of view each time the device has moved.

  • Patent number: 10972987
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may transmit a power headroom report in response to changing beamforming parameters. The UE may autonomously change beamforming parameters from a preconfigured set of beams or receive a command to change beamforming parameters for transmissions on a new beam. The UE may determine a power headroom applicable to a transmission from the UE on the new beam. The UE may transmit, in response to the command, a power headroom report based on the power headroom using resources configured for the power headroom report. For example, the power headroom report may be multiplexed with an uplink transmission from the UE using the new beam. In an aspect, the UE may select a scheduled transmission during a time period after the command is implemented as the uplink transmission.
