  • Patent number: 5969659
Abstract: An arrangement for improving the operation of an analog to digital converter (A/D), which can form part of an integrated circuit, the A/D converter being coupled to a reference voltage and having a plurality of input pins associated therewith comprises: a resistor divider having a plurality of resistors coupled in series, the resistor divider having an upper node coupled to a source of voltage to be converted, having a lower node coupled to a source of reference potential and having a plurality of intermediate nodes; and, each of the upper intermediate nodes being coupled to a respective one of the input pins of the A/D converter. The A/D converter can have enhanced resolution and/or an extended dynamic range when the voltage level being tested is divided arid the reference voltage is reduced.

  • Patent number: 5877714
Abstract: To compress data at high speed, a search character is input to a write buffer 56 in sequence. Each of content addressable memory (CAM) cell rows compares the search character with character data stored therein and outputs the comparison result through a match line MATCH to a comparison result control circuit 60 every time. The comparison result is held in sequence to latches 82 and 84. When a signal ORFB input to a signal generation circuit 64 is low, the circuit 86 outputs the logical product between the output of the latch 82 and the output of the latch 88 of the preceding stage to a priority encoder 74 through a latch 88 and also to an OR circuit 90. When the signal ORFB is high, the circuit 86 outputs the logical product between the output of the latch 82 and the output of the latch 84 of the preceding stage to the priority encoder 74 through the latch 88 and also to the OR circuit 90.

  • Patent number: 5867112
Abstract: A method of compressing text and graphic images for storage on a computer memory device. The first step of the invention is the importation of a TIFF or EPS file to be compressed into a conversion program where it is converted to a JPEG or PICT filt type. The next step is to import the converted file into a basic authoring program that is written to allow importation of JPEG or PICT files. Once the file has been inserted into the authoring program, a standard compressor is selected and used to perform compression, such compressors being preferably "CINEPAK" of JPEG. Once the file-images have been compressed to a level desired, the images are then stored or fixed or transmitted in their compressed form in their new file-type. The next step is the decompression of the file-images and the viewing thereof.
