  • Patent number: 9787488
Abstract: In general, techniques are described for simplifying admission control signaling between subscriber devices, access nodes, and service edge routers to facilitate subscriber-specific admission control for multicast streams. In one example, a service edge router receives a service request and accesses a subscriber profile to determine whether the requesting subscriber is authorized to receive the service. Upon authorization, the service edge router returns the service request to the access node in a substantially similar form in which the service request was received. The access node receives the service request on a service edge router-facing interface, indicating the service edge router has granted authorization for the subscriber device to receive multicast traffic associated with the multicast group identified within the service request.

  • Patent number: 9756657
Abstract: A wireless device includes a preamble detector configured to identify a plurality of preambles transmitted via a random access channel of a wireless network. The preamble detector includes a noise floor estimator. The noise floor estimator is configured to: estimate, for a given preamble root sequence identified by the preamble detector, a noise floor value as mean energy of received signal samples, excluding detected preamble samples on the give preamble root sequence, below a noise floor threshold assigned to the given preamble root sequence. The noise floor estimator is configured to compute the noise floor threshold as a product of: average energy of the received signal samples less total signal energy contained in each cyclic prefix window in which a preamble is detected using the given preamble root sequence; and a predetermined normalized relative noise floor threshold based on a target false preamble detection rate.

  • Patent number: 9686759
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) for performing uplink transmission power control is described. The UE includes a processor and memory in electronic communication with the processor. The UE determines that dual connectivity is configured with more than one cell group. The UE also determines if a total transmission power of the cell groups exceeds a maximum allowed transmission power of the UE. The UE further determines if the cell groups are asynchronized and whether look-ahead with processing time reduction is supported by the UE. The UE additionally determines an available transmission power in a subframe of a given cell group. The UE also transmits uplink (UL) channels in a subframe based on the available transmission power of the given cell group.

  • Patent number: 9655151
Abstract: A wireless mesh access point (AP) determines a candidate set of Basic Service Set Identifiers (BSSIDs) or other unique identifiers by monitoring for detection of a set of wireless communications, each bearing a unique identifier. The AP selects a candidate unique identifier from the candidate set. The AP establishes a wireless communication link with a controller of a wireless mesh network associated with the candidate unique identifier. The AP transmits a request to the controller to join the wireless mesh network associated with the candidate unique identifier. The AP receives a response from the controller indicating either acceptance or rejection of the request. If the response indicates rejection, the AP rejects one or more unique identifiers in the candidate set in response to reason information included in the rejection.

  • Patent number: 9622171
Abstract: A method and network node of a radio network, for enabling a User Equipment (UE) to save power in radio communication with the network node. The network node sets a waiting threshold for the UE and communicates data with the UE over a radio link. The network node also obtains traffic characteristics pertaining to the radio communication, and predicts a waiting time until next data is to be communicated with the UE based on the traffic characteristics. The network node further triggers the UE to enter a Discontinuous Reception (DRX) sleep when the predicted waiting time is longer than the waiting threshold. Thereby, power can be saved in the UE by immediately going to sleep after the last data.

  • Patent number: 9585156
Abstract: When communications of a single radio access technology (RAT), or different radio access technologies in a proximate communication spectrum are operating at the same time, potential interference between devices may occur. To reduce the interference, the time division duplex (TDD) configuration of one or more conflicting device may be altered. For example, at the edge of a communication region, TDD configurations used by edge base stations to communicate with mobile devices may be set to reduce interference. As another example, communications of a first device may be altered so the first device schedules uplink communications when a second device also has uplink communications scheduled. Other configurations may also be implemented.
