Abstract: A multivariable load balancing system for a merchandise fulfillment network is described. The multivariable load balancing system employs Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output (MIMO) load balancing functionality or other closed loop control functionality to control which fulfillment resources (such as fulfillment centers) are to handle customer orders to reduce real world costs.

Abstract: Machine, methods, and program product for facilitating electronic inventory tracking and management of products through messaging over a payment network, are provided. An example includes an inventory management computer in communication with a merchant POS apparatus or terminal over an existing financial services payment network and configured to receive and process purchase transaction data associated with a product being purchased, for use by a product provider. The computer can include electronic inventory management program product configured to perform various operations including receiving a purchase transaction message sent through the payment network, storing purchase transaction data, and notifying a product provider of the purchase transaction data.

Abstract: A method and system for real estate marketing allows individuals from the general public to gain access to a real estate property that is placed for sale or lease for the purpose of inspection. Access to the real estate property may be granted to requesting individuals who hold valid user accounts with a Remote Service Provider which can authorize such access. Access to inspect real estate property may be granted based on a charged fee basis and can be monitored via video and/or audio surveillance equipment to safeguard against vandalism and/or inappropriate conduct at the property location.

Abstract: In general, the invention relates to a system and method of operating a shopping system to facilitate payment using a mobile device. A network is configured to include a server programmed with a personal characteristic database, a database searching algorithm, and to be coupled to a wireless communication system that is capable of communicating with the user's personal data device. The user logs on through the wireless communication system to the secure network using her personal data device, and communicates to and stores in the database personal data defining her characteristics. Either the secure network automatically identifies the first users precise geographic location, or the user himself otherwise indicates and stores in the database of the network an identifying address that indicates his current specific geographic location. Personal data defining the user's characteristics are then sent to a business location at the user's location to facilitate a payment transaction.

Abstract: A pet or human care management system and method are provided. In one embodiment, the system includes a portable electronic device carried by a care service provider to scan a care customer bar code at the location of a care visit to indicate the start and/or end of the care visit. The portable electronic device also includes a GPS component and transmits its location at a plurality of times during the care visit, such as to indicate the path of a scheduled walk. A website is employed to administrate the care management system, including scheduling walks, licensing care providers, and creating customer and care provider accounts.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for differential bandwidth metering in a network implementing direct peerings. A system includes a plurality of resource collections and a billing manager. The billing manager obtains a first metric of network traffic transmitted on behalf of a client to obtain one or more services from one or more resource collections. The billing manager also obtains a second metric of network traffic transmitted on behalf of the client over one or more private links, where each private link is set up to establish a network path between a respective client network of the client and a respective resource collection of the plurality of resource collections. The billing manager provides composite billing information to the client comprising a differential billing amount dependent upon a difference between the first metric and the second metric.

Abstract: A system for managing beverage sales and inventory, and for enabling customers to pour their own beverages while preventing shrinkage is disclosed. The system enables a user to access a beverage from a beverage dispenser by presenting a beverage-pour tracking device. The beverage dispenser can prevent a user from accessing the beverage without the beverage-pour tracking device. Further, the system can confirm whether the user is permitted to access the beverage dispenser before enabling the user to access the dispenser.

Abstract: Online purchases by users/buyers are facilitated by an online hosting company operating an online website for providers/sellers/merchants. The merchant establishes criteria used to identify potential buyers. The online company would maintain a RSS feeder means. The user/buyer selects criteria at the online company regarding products and/or services desired and would be notified of availability by use of the RSS feed. The online company would match the user/buyer and the provider/merchant based upon the criteria provided by both. The online company would also provide secure credit/debit card pre-approval for user/buyers by establishing an account therewith. A notice on the merchant website would alert the user/buyer that the merchant is a participant/member in the online company. If the merchant is not a member, the user/buyer would be redirected to the merchant website.

Abstract: A system and method for operating a product return system. One or more electronic devices are received from a carrier at a return provider. A determination is made whether the one or more electronic devices include customer personal information. The one or more electronic devices are quarantined in response to determining the one or more electronic devices include CPI. The one or more electronic devices are processed in response to determining the CPI has been removed.

Abstract: Systems and methods for managing use of a pharmaceutical product are provided. The systems and methods utilize an external cover and a container, along with a first material and a pharmaceutical product that are each contained within an internal space that exists when the external cover is in a closed position relative to the container. Release of the first material may bond the external cover to the container, may result in the first material coming into contact with the pharmaceutical product, or both.

Abstract: Disclosed are method and apparatus that enable a cardless payment transaction to be executed from a merchant point-of-sale (POS) system. A user is enabled to check in at a merchant by using a mobile device of the user and then to pay by simply appearing at the merchant and mentioning his name. By emulating card read events and intercepting receipt printer outputs, the technique cleanly integrates into a conventional merchant POS system, without the need for customized software or hardware to accommodate individual POS vendor-proprietary application programming interfaces (APIs).

The system enables a user to access a beverage from a beverage dispenser by presenting a beverage-pour tracking device. The beverage dispenser can prevent a user from accessing the beverage without the beverage-pour tracking device. Further, the system can confirm whether the user is permitted to access the beverage dispenser before enabling the user to access the dispenser.

Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods for managing transactions in which an order is specified online and payment is received at a point of sale (POS). Methods are disclosed for managing payment for such transactions at a POS, including transactions involving payment for both in-store purchases and online orders. Methods are also disclosed for managing inventory and price changes for such transactions where payment can occur at any time in a pay period following order creation. Also disclosed are methods for processing refunds for online orders for which payment was made at a POS. Finally, methods for preventing fraud and abuse as well as restricting the availability of this payment method for certain items are disclosed.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for allowing a merchant to process third party closed-loop instruments (such as gift cards) as if the closed-loop instruments were open-loop instruments. A customer provides card data of a third party gift card to a merchant, e.g., online or in a merchant store, for the purchase of one or more items provided by the merchant. The merchant sends the gift card data to an intermediary that deducts at least a portion of the balance of the gift card. The intermediary sends an offer for the gift card to the customer. If the customer accepts the offer, then the merchant applies the offer towards the total purchase price of the one or more items.

Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for managing aggregate funds held in a custodial deposit accounts by a custodial agent on behalf of a plurality of individuals. According to the present invention, the custodial deposit accounts comprises an omnibus transaction account (“Omnibus TA”) and a Omnibus money market deposit account (“Omnibus MMDA”). A corresponding individual transaction account (“Individual TA”) and individual money market deposit account (“Individual MMDA”) are kept on the books and records of the custodial agent for each individual, representing the amount of the individual's funds deposited in the Omnibus TA and Omnibus MMDA, respectively. According to the present invention, limitations on transfers from the Omnibus MMDA to the Omnibus TA and limitations on transfers from the corresponding Individual MMDAs to the Individual TAs are managed by daily allocation of the funds in the Individual TAs and Individual MMDAs.
