Abstract: Systems and methods for creating and using composite images are provided. An online design customization tool receives user-supplied text and automatically combines the text with a user-selected image to create horizontal and vertical composite images. The aspect ratios of the composite images are compared to the aspect ratio of an image container in an electronic product design template to determine which composite image version is appropriate. The appropriate composite image is automatically incorporated into the electronic product design template and displayed the user.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method that includes receiving a request to generate an interface within a software application that is configured to play back one or more media files; for a first media file, generating an image representing a frame of the first media file; and causing the image to be displayed within the interface on a display device, where the image is configured to detect an event that causes a media player to be loaded into the software application behind the image.

Abstract: Systems and methods to provide graphical user interface recommendations based on user context information and behavior are provided. In example embodiments, tracking data associated with automatically tracked actions performed at a device of a user with respect to at least one screen are received. One or more recommendations of a customized screen for an application is determined based at least in part on the tracking data for the user. The one or more recommendations of a customized screen for the application are provided to the user.

Abstract: The customization of an application user interface with a skin package based on context data that includes the emotional states of a user may strengthen the emotional attachment for the application by the user. The customization includes determining an emotional state of a user that is inputting content into an application. A skin package for the user interface of the application is selected based on the emotional state of the user. The selected skin package is further applied to the user interface of the application.

Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for accessible chart navigation using object neighborhood are provided. An input is received to navigate a focus away in a direction from a first object, the first object being a member of a set of objects depicted in a graphical visual chart. A set of inputs is designed to access the chart without using a pointing device or requiring visual inspection of the chart and the set of objects. The set of inputs includes the input and a second input to allow return to a previous step in navigating the chart. A second object is identified to which to navigate responsive to the input, the second object being located within a neighborhood of the first object at a shortest neighborhood distance from the first object. Navigation is performed to the second object to keep the focus within the neighborhood.

Abstract: User interaction with multiple domains is facilitated while preventing cross-domain transfer of data from those domains. A compositioning domain facilitates this interaction in a secure manner in which cross-domain transfer of data is prevented. This includes obtaining pixel information from the domains via one or more read-only communication paths, providing a user interface to the user, which includes providing a display buffer including at least some of the pixel information obtained from each domain of the domains for display to the user, and maintaining an in-focus domain state. The in-focus domain state indicates which domain of the domains is currently in-focus. User input from the user based on the user interface is provided by a user input handler directly to the currently in-focus domain indicated by the in-focus domain state absent transfer of the user input to the compositioning domain.

Abstract: Inadvertent activation of a portable medical device such as an ambulatory infusion pump can be reduced by locking a touchscreen of the device when it is indicated that an uninterrupted operation is to be performed. When a processor receives a device operation input from the touchscreen that indicates an uninterrupted operation is to be performed on the portable device, the touchscreen is automatically locked such that touch input at the touchscreen is not processed by the processor to navigate between or among menu screens or set pump parameters. Following completion of the uninterrupted operation, the touchscreen can be unlocked. In one embodiment, the touchscreen can be unlocked by selection of an unlock icon on the touchscreen.

Abstract: A portable electronic device having an input device for receiving a gesture based input from a user is used to control a navigation operation of an appliance. The portable electronic device receives via the input device the gesture based input and uses one or more parameters stored in a memory of the portable electronic device and one or more characteristics associated with the gesture based input to cause the portable electronic device to transmit a navigation step command to thereby control the navigation operation of the appliance.

Abstract: A method can include commencing a petrotechnical analysis workflow that includes a plurality of tasks; initializing one or more touch modules associated with the workflow; accessing data associated with the workflow; rendering one or more visualizations of the data to a touchscreen; and sensing multiple touches via the touchscreen for controlling one or more actions associated with the workflow according to the one or more touch modules. Abstract: A movie browsing system may use a combination of long term and session based preferences to help a user browse movies using microcategories. The user preferences may be stored as microcategory weights, where the session based weights may change during a session as the system learns the types of movies a user wishes to see at that time. The long term microcategory weights may change at a slower rate than the session weights. The system may present a diverse set of microcategories to a user in an effort to diverge the search and learn the user's current interest, and may refine the weights as the user browses to converge to a desired movie. A user interface may operate on a television screen with a minimum of user input controls to navigate the browsing system while still collecting user preferences.

For each multimedia data element to be registered, a relevance index parameter is determined for each paired combination of node elements and allocated to the respective pair of node elements. In dependence on the relevance index parameters, one- or multi-dimensional distance factors are determined. Based on the registered multimedia data elements and/or node elements, a topological navigation map is generated and graphically displayed in dependence on the respective one- or multi-dimensional distance factors so that the user can navigate in the topological navigation map by an input device and can access required multimedia data elements and/or node elements.

One aspect provides a method including opening a file transfer application on an information handling device having an internal storage device; providing a source display area indicating a source storage device; providing a destination display area indicating a destination storage device; responsive to movement of one or more file icons a predetermined threshold amount beyond a boundary separating said source display area and said destination display area, change one or more indications to indicate to a user a destination storage device to which one or more files is to be transferred, said changing further comprising modifying screen brightness of the source display area; and responsive to movement of said one or more file icons a predetermined threshold amount beyond said boundary, transferring said one or more files to said destination storage device. Abstract: Described herein are techniques for automatically forming groups of application windows. The techniques may be performed with a computing device executing a windowing system, the windowing system having a user interface element that can be interacted with by a user to manage applications executing on the computing device. Each application may correspond to a separate process and application window. It may be determined that an operation has occurred that will evict the application windows of target applications from the display, and in response an application group may be automatically formed. The application group may have indicia of the evicted target applications. The application group may be provided to the user interface element, and when the user interface element is interacted with by the user the user interface element displays user-selectable graphic application indicators for both the application group and applications other than the target applications.
