  • Patent number: 9667866
Abstract: An image pickup apparatus reduced in wasteful electric power consumption due to execution of a GPS function and capable of adding the newest position information measured by the GPS function to an image photographed by interval photographing. An image pickup section has a plurality of image pickup modes including an interval mode for performing image pickup at photographing intervals of interval photographing. A GPS module acquires position information indicative of a position of the image pickup apparatus at GPS positioning intervals. The GPS positioning interval is set according to a user's operation. In a case where the image pickup section is set to the interval mode, GPS positioning interval is changed from the interval set according to a user's operation to an interval synchronized with the photographing interval of interval photographing.

  • Patent number: 9594943
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide systems and methods for image capture with infrared emitters, with associated computer control and processing for providing consistent and high quality image data. Image data of consecutive frames from a camera is obtained, with a first frame being taken during an emission of infrared light directed at a scene to be captured by the camera and a second frame being taken without an emission of infrared light. The consecutive frames provide a dynamic control image of the captured scene. The image data may be used to support photometric sampling techniques used in building geometric models for subject recognition in camera imagery in variable lighting environments.

  • Patent number: 9591215
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention include devices, systems and methods for using or manufacturing a camera enclosure or mobile device that includes a thermally conductive camera module, such as having a minimum thermal conductivity of 200 watts per meter Kelvin (W/mK), that enhances heat transfer between a stiffener and cap of the enclosure. This allows heat produced by the camera to be conducted forward, away from the bottom of the stiffener, through the stiffener, and to the top of can so that the bottom of the stiffener does not heat to a high temperature, components of the device or an outer surface of a cover of the device near the bottom of the stiffener. This substantially increases the time before or avoids having the temperature of outer surface reach a high temperature, such as one that will be uncomfortable to the user. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.
