  • Patent number: 5258782
Abstract: A device is provided which is capable of removing the charge of a recording medium, even a low charge. The recording medium has an electrically-conductive layer and dielectric layers, and is used for forming a toner image by an image forming apparatus. The device includes a first charge-removing electrode in contact with the electrically-conductive layer of the recording medium and a second charge-removing electrode which is in contact with the dielectric layer of the recording medium and is positioned on a side of the recording medium which is opposite to the side of the first charge-removing electrode. A voltage with the same polarity as that remaining on the surface of the dielectric layer of the recording medium is applied to the first charge-removing electrode, and a voltage with a polarity opposite to that remaining on the surface of the dielectric layer is applied to the second charge-removing electrode.

  • Patent number: 5250762
Abstract: For measuring tensile force in a continuous strip or web, load cells are arranged between a bearing housing for a deflector roll, over which the web runs, and a fixed base. A load cell comprises a load cell housing and consists of two yokes (1, 2) facing the bearing housing and the base, respectively, and a force transducer which together with membranes (3 . . . 6) are arranged between the yokes to connect these together. At the end plates of the yokes, screw holes (8 . . . 15) are provided to attach the yokes to the bearing housing and the base, respectively. At each screw hole there is provided a gap (16) so that, around each screw hole, a tubular body is formed and that the plane outwardly-facing surfaces (17) of the bodies are plane-parallel and extend outside the otherwise plane outwardly-facing surfaces of the yokes.

  • Patent number: 5239137
Abstract: For the calibration of an electronic measurement system with sensors which are arranged in pairs on structural parts of an airplane undercarriage which are loaded transverse to the lengthwise direction and which give off measurement signals which correspond to the vertical displacement between two sensor attachment points which are staggered from each other in the lengthwise direction of the structural parts, the pair of sensors which form a measurement point in each case being arranged approximately in the horizontal central plane of the structural part at positions opposite each other on the outside, a method is proposed in which a separate scaling factor is determined for each sensor of the pair of sensors. For this purpose, the measurement signals and weights are preferably determined for at least two conditions of loading of the airplane which are as far apart as possible and, furthermore, in connection with at least two different torsional conditions of the loaded structural part.

  • Patent number: 5235578
Abstract: In CD-players with a memory having A storage positions for the storage of titles recorded on a CD-record it can happen, that more titles C are on the CD-record than storage positions A provided therefore in the CD-record. In order to use the storage space better in these cases and to keep the access times to the single titles low, the difference of the start times of each two consecutive titles are stored, instead of storing the start times of the individual titles. The more titles that are recorded on a inserted CD-record, the better the storage space is used, and the more the access times are reduced.

  • Patent number: 5227815
Abstract: A quick and efficient method of testing the color registration on a multi-color electronic reprographic system includes the generation a latent image of a repeated basic test pattern across and down an photoconductive surface. Several images of this repeated test pattern are generated, one for each color in the reprographic system. Each test pattern is shifted a fixed amount so that the final output page displays a set of output figures. A figure of one color will be surrounded by at least one figure of each of the remaining colors of the reprographic system. Using this system a field technician can determine the level of misregistration between all of the colors.

  • Patent number: 5215155
Abstract: Weighing device for weighing a container to be moved by at least one arm system with a lifting device, comprising a support, a lifting arm pivotally connected at one end to the support, and a weighing arm pivotally connected to the lifting arm at one end of the weighing arm adjacent the point of connection of the lifting arm to the support. The other end of the weighing arm detachably supports a container to be weighed. A load cell assembly is disposed and acts between the other end of the lifting arm and the weighing arm adjacent support for the container.

  • Patent number: 5214451
Abstract: Direct electrostatic printing apparatus including a cylindrically shaped donor structure for delivering imaging material such as toner particles to a printhead forming an integral part of the printing device. The printhead structure includes control electrodes and a shield electrode structure secured to opposite sides of an insulative base. The donor structure has a relatively small diameter compared to such devices of the prior art making it impossible to deliver adequate quantities of toner to some of the printhead apertures using electrical biasing techniques of the prior art. In the device disclosed, the printhead apertures are biased according to the aperture spacing from the donor structure. The magnitude of the bias or its duration applied to the apertures farther from the donor structure surface is such that toner delivery to those apertures is equal to that of all other apertures.

  • Patent number: 5059976
Abstract: A coding method of a binary Markov information source comprises the steps of providing a range on a number line from 0 to 1 which corresponds to an output symbol sequence from the information source, and performing data compression by binary expressing the position information on the number line corresponding to the output symbol sequence. The present method further includes the steps of providing a normalization number line to keep a desired calculation accuracy by expanding a range of the number line which includes a mapping range, by means of a multiple of a power of 2, when the mapping range becomes below 0.

  • Patent number: 5034937
Abstract: A record player in which a magazine is provided with compartments for storing a number of rigid and flexible disk-shaped recording media. For playing the disks, they are removed only to an extent necessary for the disk drive to engage bores of the disk. Each compartment has a bottom with a semi-circular recess at a side of the magazine from which the recording media are removed for being played. This recess has a diameter that is substantially longer than the diameter of the respective disk to be played, so that the disk can rotate freely while being played. Each compartment, furthermore, as a storage recess above the semi-circular recess for storing the disk. To play the disk, the latter is lowered from the storage recess into the semi-circular recess, but the lowering of the disk is such that the disk will not contact the bottom of the semi-circular recess, so as to allow free rotation of the disk within the semi-circular recess.
