Patent number: 5335483Abstract: An apparatus and method are disclosed for successively forming foam filled cushions for packaging purposes of the type in which a bag containing foam precursors is added to a container so that as the foam precursors form foam, the bag forms a custom cushion adjacent objects in the container. The method comprises attaching an adhesive strip to the longitudinal edges of a pair of sheets of plastic film material being advanced along predetermined paths of travel in face to face contact from a stock supply, and between which sheets a foamable composition is injected, to thereby join the sheets together and form one edge of the bag, while periodically sealing the leading edge and the trailing edge of the sheets together transversely to the path of travel to form a bag while periodically severing a completed bag from the next succeeding bag being formed.Type: GrantFiled: September 2, 1992Date of Patent: August 9, 1994Assignee: Sealed Air CorporationInventors: German Gavronsky, Ramiro Guarderas

Patent number: 5324373Abstract: The subject of this invention is a method of making a curved glass pane of laminated glass, such as an automobile windshield, in which one of the two single glass sheets is provided, on the surface bearing against an intermediate layer, with a film of a baking finish. The baking finish is applied onto the inner face of the single glass sheet intended for the outside. The glass sheet, provided with the dried baking finish (i.e., a colored film), is laid, with the film upwards, onto the single glass sheet intended for the inside. The pair of glass sheets, in this arrangement, is prebent on a bending frame with simultaneous baking-in of the colored film. Subsequently, the two glass sheets are transposed and, in this transposed arrangement with the colored film on the inside, are finally bent in a second bending operation on a bending frame corresponding to the final shape of the outer sheet.Type: GrantFiled: January 19, 1993Date of Patent: June 28, 1994Assignee: Saint-Gobain Vitrage InternationalInventors: Manfred Gillner, Hubert Havenith, Luc Vanaschen

Patent number: 5318787Abstract: A thermoformed bowl filled and sealed with a sample food product forms a sample package. The bowl is sized and shaped to the contours of and so as to nest upon the shoulders of a plastic one gallon jug or bottle. The package has a centrally located die-cut hole to lock under the bottle neck boss. Free samples of the food product can thus be distributed to accompany regular sales of one gallon plastic containers of milk.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 1992Date of Patent: June 7, 1994Assignee: General Mills, Inc.Inventors: Arne H. Patent number: 5318089Abstract: A pneumatic tire to be mounted on a normal rim, has a pair of bead parts each having a bead bottom surface seating on a rim seat of the normal rim and bead outside surface connecting with the bead bottom surface and abutting against a rim flange of the normal rim. The bead outside surface is provided with exhaust extending outward in the radial direction from an inner end of the exhaust so as to form the air passage for escape of air between the rim flange and bead outside surface at the time of rim assembly. The inner end of the exhaust is positioned within a region remote from a bead base line by a distance of 0.5 to 1.5 times a separating point height Fh defined as a height in the radial direction from the bead base line to a separating point at which the bead outside surface separates from the rim flange.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 1992Date of Patent: June 7, 1994Assignee: Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd.Inventors: Kenji Tagashira, Yoshiaki Uemura, Masanao Yoshida

Patent number: 5304280Abstract: A support is provided for supporting the lower header plate and adjacent tube ends of a radiator core within an oven area for even heating thereof preparatory to manually pry and scrapping softened epoxy material from the header plate and about the tube ends. A method also is incorporated wherein after the original epoxy has been removed, fresh epoxy is applied to the header plate about the tube ends and allowed to cure.Type: GrantFiled: February 25, 1993Date of Patent: April 19, 1994Inventors: Dyrell K. Patent number: 5302402Abstract: An article for shrink packaging bone-in food masses such as meat cuts comprising a thin-walled heat shrinkable thermoplastic film bag and a thick-walled nonheat shrinkable thermoplastic film patch having its inner surface bonded to the bag outer surface. Both surfaces have high energy as the sole bonding means and the patch-bag bond strength increases during heat shrinking around the meat mass such that the bag portion adhered to the patch shrinks less than the rest of the bag.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 1992Date of Patent: April 12, 1994Assignee: Viskase CorporationInventors: Vincent J. Patent number: 5296068Abstract: A multi-layer laminated trim panel having a first sheet of high density cross-linked polyethylene foam, a second sheet of low density cross-linked polyethylene foam, a plurality of fasteners wherein the fastener heads are entrapped between the first and second sheets of cross-linked polyethylene foam, and an external cover sheet of cloth or vinyl. Additional sheets or pieces of cross-linked polyethylene foam can be incorporated between the first and second sheets of cross-linked polyethylene foam. Various methods of manufacturing the trim panels of the present invention are also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: May 26, 1992Date of Patent: March 22, 1994Assignee: Cadillac Products, Inc.Inventor: Douglas H.
