Abstract: This invention relates to training apparatuses for the trunk musculature. The training apparatuses are characterized in particular in that the spinal erectors and the abdominal muscles can be trained. To this end, a frame has a sitting device with a seat for unrestrained sitting without contact with the floor, at least one backrest, a first fixing device for the pelvis, and at least one second fixing device for an arm or a hand. Furthermore, the seat including the coupled first fixing device is movable relative to the backrest including the second fixing device. The movable seat including the first fixing device and the backrest including the second fixing device advantageously result in the pelvis being movable while the upper body remains steady. The frame is configured so that the feet or the legs cannot support the upper body.

  • Patent number: 9914013
Abstract: Various systems, processes, and techniques may be used to achieve a wheelchair-accessible exercise system. In particular implementations, a wheelchair-accessible exercise system may allow a user to perform strength and cardiovascular exercises without having to reposition his/her wheelchair. For example, a user may perform seven different exercises without moving his/her chair, or possibly even the trunk of their body. Thus, the exercise system may provide a comprehensive workout without requiring repositioning of the wheelchair, which can be quite cumbersome to those that are mobility challenged. Moreover, the exercise system may be adjustable and safe.

  • Patent number: 9895577
Abstract: A device for exercising leg muscles, ligaments, and tendons attendant to movement of a human knee following knee replacement surgery or during rehabilitation following knee injury is provided. The user lies supine on a flat surface and braces the back of his or her upper thigh against the device's leg support bar, so that the user's upper thigh is approximately perpendicular to the user's upper torso. The patient maintains this position and exercises the knee by extending and flexing his or her lower leg. Some embodiments include an elastic band that attaches to the device in a position that limits the degree of leg flexion to within a desired range. Some embodiments include an ankle strap attached to a cord, which may be used to build quadriceps strength through application of resistance, and/or for applying downward pulling force to the lower leg during passive range-of-motion exercising.

  • Patent number: 9889333
Abstract: A treadmill which utilizes provides for a connection between the floor stand and the treadbase which is toward the front end of the treadbase and provides for generally improved support of the front end of the treadbase at higher angles by providing that the lift mechanism is attached to the treadbase at two fixed points a fixed distance from each other. The lift mechanism then utilizes two different motions, the extension of an extension arm and the rotation of a rigid arm, to produce lift. The rotation of the rigid arm generally utilizes a wheel in an enclosed raceway attached to the floor stand.
