  • Patent number: 8881418
Abstract: A mechanical spacing apparatus for placement between a vertical dry wall member and a horizontal flooring panel. The flooring panel and the dry-wall member meet at right angles. The spacing apparatus comprises a horizontal front projecting element for placement on the top surface of the flooring panel joined to a vertical upwards projecting element for abutting adjacent to the vertical dry-wall member. The spacing apparatus comprises horizontal and vertical elements at right angles. Projecting vertically downwards from the right angle join between the horizontal and vertical elements is a spacing element having a predetermined thickness for creating a suitable spacing distance between the inward edge of the flooring panel and the bottom of the vertical dry-wall member thereby accommodating a suitable expansion distance for the flooring installation. The apparatus is easily installed and removed by hand by a flooring installer.

  • Patent number: 8875411
Abstract: The cylindrical ruler is an elongated, hollow, cylindrical tube of known diameter having an axial slit extending the length of the tube. Indicia defining a circumferential scale are disposed around one end of the tube for measuring the length of an arc. Indicia defining a ruled scale extend lengthwise down the tube adjacent the slit for measuring length and width. Since the tube has a known diameter, it may be used to measure the inner or outer diameter of a pipe, the outer diameter or radius of curvature of a cylindrical lens, etc. The tube may also be used as a drawing tool to draw arcs, circles, or rectilinear lines on a cylindrical object. Preferably, the cylindrical ruler is furnished as a plurality of cylindrical tubes of progressively increasing diameter that can telescope within each other for storage and transport in a protective case.

  • Patent number: 8826557
Abstract: A caliper for measuring the size of an object, especially the thickness of an object with non-planar surfaces. After measured, the caliper can be removed from the object without changing the measured value. The caliper includes a scale ruler, a vernier slidably disposed on the scale ruler, a first jaw fixedly connected to the scale ruler and a second jaw pivotally connected to the vernier. In normal state, the second jaw is kept in a position in alignment with and in parallel to the first jaw, whereby the caliper can be used to measure the object in a common manner. After measured, the second jaw is rotated to another position, permitting the caliper to be removed from the measured object.

  • Patent number: 8819950
Abstract: A chalk line apparatus having a line and spool and a releasable end. The releasable end comprises a hook member having a rod member, a releasable member pivotally attached to the rod member and a spring positioned to bias the releasing member against the hook member. The releasing member has an attachment location for the line. Additionally, the spring is sized and shaped to allow rotation of the releasing member about the rod member and relative to the hook member upon a force exerted at the attachment location from the line.

  • Patent number: 8800154
Abstract: The telescopic sight alignment tool is used to align the horizontal and vertical axes of the scope with corresponding axes of the firearm upon which the scope is mounted. The tool comprises a unitary structure having a plate with a vertical crosshair alignment slit, with an ocular seat extending forward from the lower portion of the plate. Upper and lower alignment indicators extend from the plate. Alternative embodiments provide variations upon the alignment indicators. The tool is placed upon the ocular of the scope and secured adjustably thereon with an elastic band. The tool is rotated to align the slit precisely with the vertical crosshair of the scope. The scope is then rotated in its mounts until at least one of the indicators of the tool is aligned with an element of the firearm, e.g., front sight, tang of the action, etc., and the mounts tightened to secure the scope.
