  • Patent number: 9922333
Abstract: An advertising system identifies behaviors from user activity and associates the behaviors with a user profile. Advertisers provide the advertising system with information on conversion rates of users associated with user profiles. A behavioral model of user responses is built to identify the relative frequency of behaviors for increasing the response rate of ads. Incoming advertising requests are matched to modeled behaviors to determine an advertiser's interest in bidding on the ad placement.

  • Patent number: 9817831
Abstract: A method to monetize multimedia queries is provided. The method includes receiving a multimedia query from a client device. In response, to the multimedia query a collection of thumbnails representing multimedia files is created. Position information for advertisement information is generated based on multimedia content included in the multimedia files. The position information specifies where the advertisement information should be displayed. Accordingly, advertisement information associated with advertisers that pay above a specified threshold is displayed with thumbnails of the multimedia content or with the actual multimedia content.

  • Patent number: 9679304
Abstract: Accentuating terms of interest in an advertisement to be served in an interactive environment. Such terms of interest can be determined from information in a request for the advertisement. Such ad request information may include query information, geolocation information, etc. In the context of text-based ads, accentuation may include bolding the term(s), underlining the term(s), increasing the font size of the term(s), coloring the font of the term(s), shading the font of the term(s), flashing the text of the term(s), etc. Such accentuation helps users to quickly identify how an advertisement is related to what they are looking for. For example, in the context of a search engine which returns search results, as well as multiple text-based ads, users viewing a search result page in response to their query can quickly scan such a search result page for relevant information. This helps to improve the performance of ads, particularly if advertisers wordsmith their advertisements with care.

  • Patent number: 9646320
Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention enable users to manage codes which may be redeemed for value. For example, some embodiments provide systems and methods for automatically identifying a code communicated to a user which is redeemable for value, and adding the code to an inventory maintained for the user. When the user later shops at a site which allows a code to be redeemed for value, some embodiments of the invention may automatically detect when the user has navigated to a page on the site which allows redemption of the code, and may make the user aware that the code may be redeemed on the page. If the user opts to redeem the code, the field on the page into which the code is to be input may be automatically identified, and the code may be automatically input into that field.

  • Patent number: 9619822
Abstract: Systems and methods of identifying user propensity to access a web page via a communication network are provided. A data processing system can receive a request for subject matter to provide for display with the web page. A referring URL identifying a source web page can be identified from the request. Based on the source web page, a score can be assigned to the request. A quality metric can indicate a likelihood that a user associated with the request will access content provided for display with the web page, and this quality metric can be adjusted based on the score.

  • Patent number: 9501789
Abstract: A method and system for controlling real-time bidding for online advertisements is disclosed. The impression server receives impression requests from a browser and responds to the impression requests from the browser. The event tracking server receives event requests from the browser and responds to event requests from the browser.
