  • Patent number: 7648281
Abstract: A fluid dynamic bearing is provided. A structure in which a shaft member and an annular member fitted about the shaft member are rotatably supported by a bearing member and an annular member on the bearing member has a fifth gap for storing a lubricating fluid and supplying it to a second gap below the annular member on the shaft member and a third gap around its outer periphery through a fourth gap. The fourth and fifth gaps are tapered to produce a capillary drawing force toward the third and second gaps, so that the lubricating fluid may be supplied effectively from the fifth gap to the second and third gaps. This makes it possible to suppress any sudden formation of a reduced pressure upon exposure to impact or vibration to prevent the leakage of any lubricating fluid caused by the generation of bubbles, while making up for the loss of any lubricating fluid by vaporization.

  • Patent number: 7644643
Abstract: A steering shaft (12) has an end toward a driver of the vehicle and is arranged to turn about an axis (27) to steer a vehicle. A hub (14) of a steering wheel assembly (13) is fastened to that end of the shaft. A spoke pattern of one or more spokes (15) extends away from the hub to a rim (17) that when grasped by the driver and turned, turns the shaft to steer the vehicle. With the rim turned to a position that steers the vehicle in a straight line of travel, the spoke pattern assumes a position of at least approximate symmetry with respect to a vertical plane through the axis. An escutcheon (24, 26) covers the one or more spokes to prevent the driver from having an unobstructed view of the one or more spokes and is positionable within a range of positions relative to the one or more spokes.

  • Patent number: 7640825
Abstract: A tension compensation assembly for a mechanical control cable. The tension compensation device has a housing with opposing ends. First and second sections of the control cable pass through but are attached at each end of the housing such that the sheaths of each section are coupled to the housing and reciprocable cable coaxially disposed in each control cable section extend into the housing. The cables are attached to opposing ends of a reciprocably disposed capsule or spring caps generally enclosing a spring. In operation, the capsule moves slidably within the housing over a predetermined travel and tension for the cables. However, if an over-tension condition is experienced, the capsule may bottom out at an end of the housing and the spring will either compress or extend, depending upon its design, thus allowing the effective length of the control cable assembly to increase, thus preventing the stretching or breaking of the cables or damage to cable end fittings.

  • Patent number: 7640830
Abstract: A locking adjustment turret for rifle scopes includes a stationary portion mounted on an outer tube of the scope, a rotating adjustment portion supported in the stationary portion and including an adjustment knob such that rotation of the knob results in axial motion of a shaft toward and away from an inner tube of the scope, and a locking mechanism on the rotating adjustment portion that locks the shaft in a desired position. The locking mechanism includes a pin that engages a detent mechanism in the rotating adjustment portion, preventing rotation of the rotating adjustment portion. The locking mechanism is operated with a lock knob that sits atop the adjustment knob and is accommodated by a recess in the top of the adjustment knob.

  • Patent number: 7634952
Abstract: The rotating nut ball screw unit with lubricating arrangement has a lubricating device composed of a main body, a collar and a bearing. The main body is provided with several oil holes and is attached to the end surface of the nut. The main body is relatively rotatable with respect to the collar intercalating the bearing therebetween. An oil storage forces the lubricant into an oil reserving space surrounded by the main body, the collar and the bearing. The oil reserving space is in communication with the oil holes and allows the lubricant to be forced into the main body and then to reach the surface of the screw bolt via oil holes. The forced lubrication arrangement of the present invention ensures a better lubricating effect.

  • Patent number: 7631573
Abstract: A guiding device, with high rigidity, for an umbilical member and a robot having the guiding device, by which interference between the umbilical member and another component or external equipment is minimized. The guiding device or an adaptor includes a first plate member fixed to a third wrist element, a second plate member opposing to and parallel to the first plate member, and a connecting member for connecting the first and second plate members. The first and second plate members and the connecting member define a first opening for introducing the umbilical member into the adaptor. The second includes a fixed portion fixed to an end effector and an extended portion extending from the fixed portion and offset from the third wrist axis. A second opening is formed on the extending portion of the second plate member, through which the umbilical member may extend.

  • Patent number: 7628090
Abstract: A circulation passage structure for a ball screw, the circulation passage structure is used to connect the helical groove and the circulation hole of the nut, so as to form a circulation path for a plurality of balls and spacers. Due to the spacers move in a manner of being clamped between two balls, the spacer inside the return path will be pushed to move inward. The degree of curvature of the inner guiding surface connected to the inner curve can be moderated by shifting outward the location of the center of the inner curve and increasing its radius of curvature. By such arrangement, the spacer will not contact the inner guiding surface when it is pushed to move inward, and the spacer can pass through the return passage easily without the problem of impacting the return passage.
