  • Patent number: 7500488
Abstract: An apparatus for removing soil from a shoe, boot or other article of footwear. The apparatus employs a jet of water or other fluid to dislodge and break up the soil. The spray nozzle is housed within a tubular plunger having a discharge opening in its upper end. The plunger is operatively connected to the nozzle, so that stepping on the plunger actuates a flow of water therethrough. The nozzle includes a return spring that biases the valve back to the closed position when the plunger is released. The stream of water is directed through the opening against the surface of the shoe or other article of footwear. The upper end of the plunger is surrounded by a layer of flow-disbursing material that prevents the escape of spray from beneath the article of footwear. The layer of flow-disbursing material may be formed by a layer of coarse, open-cell foam material or by a multiplicity of small, resiliently flexible fingers.

  • Patent number: 7497222
Abstract: A dishwashing machine including a comminution device and a method for comminuting residue in the dishwasher. The comminution device at minimal manufacturing costs, makes it possible to easily comminute the coarse contaminants or residue accumulating during the rinse cycle in the dishwashing machine, flush it out of the dishwasher and at the same time reduce the danger of clogging the sieve(s) placed in the dishwasher. The comminution device preferably is actuated by the lye pump of the dishwashing machine. In this manner the comminution device is actuated easily and efficiently, which both enables cost-effective manufacture of the dishwashing machine, and improves its operating safety and ease of maintenance. In the process the rinse residue can first collect during the rinse cycle in uncomminuted form on the floor of the rinsing container and only then be comminuted when the washing liquid is pumped out and flushed out of the dishwashing machine.

  • Patent number: 7493906
Abstract: An apparatus for promoting the efficient use of gases dissolved in a liquid by limiting the amount of off-gassing or evaporation from the liquid. The apparatus is a distribution/retention plate, may be utilized in a portable food washing system. The food washing system is a portable unit having a treatment chamber with an access door for the placement of food products on a loading plate. A food product is placed in the chamber and sprayed with ozonated water containing diffuse concentrations of ozone which reacts with and destroys organic contaminants on the food product. The distribution/retention plate is located at the bottom of the treatment chamber, and divides the treatment chamber from a reservoir and controls the rate of ozone off-gassing from the reservoir, thereby increasing ozone concentration in the water in the reservoir. In an alternative embodiment, the distribution/retention plate is utilized in an automatic dishwashing system.
