  • Patent number: 5993283
Abstract: A modular building for a toy building set includes a planar member, or foundation, having raised ribs on its top and a wall member having a wall portion and a base portion. The wall portion of the wall member is substantially orthogonal to the base portion of the wall member. The base portion of the wall member has a cleft therein sized to receive one of the ribs of the foundation to removably attach the wall member to the foundations. A substantially planar coupler connects at least two or more of the foundation. The coupler has at least two clefts therein. The clefts are sized to receive the ribs on each of the two foundations for removable attachment of the foundation to the coupler.

  • Patent number: 4889516
Abstract: A power module which when plugged into an open compartment in the body of a motorless toy vehicle and switched on, then acts to drive the vehicle in a selected direction. The compartment is disposed above a coupling gear mounted on a wheel axle. The case of the module simulates the appearance of a multi-cylinder engine nad houses a DC motor and a battery supply therefor, the motor being operatively coupled to a drive pinion whose teeth project below the base of the case to engage the coupling gear whereby when the motor is energized, the wheel axle is caused to turn to propel the vehicle. The upper end of the case which projects above the body has a rocker pivoted thereon which simulates an air scoop for the engine and functions as the actuator for a polarity-reversing switch connecting the battery supply to the motor.

  • Patent number: 4750509
Abstract: A tent and folding tent framework which enable quick and easy setup and taking down of the tent include a central hub member about which six ribs are pivotable. The hub member or fixed disk is made of plastic material and includes openings which enable the ribs to be easily assembled into the hub. Each rib includes two joints which pivot through 180 degrees. The joints are biased by springs toward the open position and include locking sleeves which are biased toward the locking position. The six ribs are loosely attached to the tent fabric via fabric loops, so that the entire framework is on the outside of the tent. A single user can easily open and set up the tent, or take down and store the tent, without assembling components and assistance.

  • Patent number: 4720095
Abstract: A soccer training and practice device comprising a ball-like target mounted to an anchor member for engaging the ground. The anchor member is preferably a helical coil that can be twisted into the ground. The ball-like target is mounted to the anchor member so that when the anchor member is anchored in the ground the ball is in position where it can be kicked by a person standing on the ground. The mounting means allowing the target to move but retaining the target in substantially its original position where it can be repeatedly kicked.

  • Patent number: 4697382
Abstract: A device for growing plants at an abnormal growth rate in a container (9), which has entirely or partially perforated walls and an aperture in the growing direction of the plant, has the shape of a pouch with at least one stiffening strap (10). The container (9) is surrounded by a guide member (1) having a guide frame (2) adapted to the curve of the stiffening strap (10) adjusted therein and having at the upper end an annular lip (3) in the aperture of which said container (9) is fitted. In the aperture of the annular lip (3) can be inserted a clamping ring (13) by which the upper edge of the container (9) is clamped between said ring and the inner wall of the annular lip (3).

  • Patent number: 4418520
Abstract: A thrust swivel ring for resiliently supporting a mowing knife in a swing arm of a mower cutting system includes internal and external metal bushings and an annular rubber portion disposed between the two bushings. The external bushing is non-rotatably connected to the swing arm and the internal bushing is non-rotatably connected to the mowing knife. One of these connections can be quickly disconnected in axial direction of the bushings. The bearing is resistant to wear, requires little maintenance and ensures a quiet operation of the mower cutting system. Further, the bearing facilitates a quick replacement of the mower knife.

  • Patent number: 4378814
Abstract: The subject invention relates to a new and improved roller to produce curls in a strand of hair. More particularly, an improved hair roller is disclosed which includes a longitudinally extending body having an irregular cross section. In use, a strand of hair is wound around the body in a helical manner along the length thereof such that the diameter of successive turns varies. By this arrangement, when the strand is unwound, curls having various curvatures are formed. In the preferred embodiment of the subject invention, the roller includes an intermediate solid body having an oblate spheroid configuration. In addition, two sets of rods are provided which extend axially away from the opposed ends of the spheroid each terminating in a flange portion. Each set of rods is spaced apart to define a cross sectional diameter which is less than the maximum diameter of the intermediate solid body. A plurality of rollers may be utilized to create a naturally curly hair style.

  • Patent number: 4129188
Abstract: An impact device for use in machines, such as presses, for marking, punching, stamping, forming, riveting, and other related operations, wherein a convex edged member, such as a ball, axially separates a tool and a hammer, the hammer being loaded by compressible means such as a tension spring, all moveable axially within a moveable spindle. The ball is displaced radially into an adjoining magazine at the point of full extension of the spindle, after the tool is in contact with the workpiece, thereby allowing the spring loaded hammer to strike the tool, imparting an impact force to the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 4117894
Abstract: A drill pot for rotating a drill steel is supported at the front end portion of a drill boom that extends forwardly from a self-propelled frame. The drill boom raises the drill pot in a straight line to advance the rotating drill steel into the mine roof and drill a bore hole for the installation of a roof bolt. A drill guide carriage is supported at the front end portion of a drill guide boom that also extends forwardly from the machine frame. The drill guide boom is positioned in overlying relation with the drill boom and is raised to move the drill guide carriage in vertical alignment with the drill pot. A pair of drill guide members is pivotally connected to the drill guide carriage for movement into a closed drill guide position surrounding the drill steel.

  • Patent number: 4039131
Abstract: This invention provides a bracket having an arcuate portion with an upper surface defined by a cylindrical segment having a flange at either edge, extending to a straight portion at one end of the arcuate portion, the straight portion having two ribs which are in part continuations of the flanges, and a flat central surface inset from the crests of the ribs. The lower edge of the central surface is spaced from and displaced to one side of the upper edge of the arcuate surface so as to provide a slot used in attaching the bracket to one form of support. Also, there is an opening through the central surface which can receive a fastening element. An L-shaped adapter with oppositely projecting lugs can be used with the bracket for attachment to a slotted supporting member.
