  • Patent number: 10269184
Abstract: A wide angle image to be displayed on a screen fixed on the head or the face of a user is processed. When a display view angle reaches a boundary of an original wide angle image 701, an indicator 703 indicating reaching the boundary is added to a free viewpoint image 702. The indicator 703 is apart of the free viewpoint image 702 which is in contact with a boundary 704 of the wide angle image 701 or protrudes from the boundary 704 and is displayed as a black-painted frame. By observing such the indicator 703, the user can intuitively understand that the display area reaches the limit of the wide angle image.

  • Patent number: 10176549
Abstract: A system, method, and computer program product are provided for remote rendering of computer graphics. The system includes a graphics application program resident at a remote server. The graphics application is invoked by a user or process located at a client. The invoked graphics application proceeds to issue graphics instructions. The graphics instructions are received by a remote rendering control system. Given that the client and server differ with respect to graphics context and image processing capability, the remote rendering control system modifies the graphics instructions in order to accommodate these differences. The modified graphics instructions are sent to graphics rendering resources, which produce one or more rendered images. Data representing the rendered images is written to one or more frame buffers. The remote rendering control system then reads this image data from the frame buffers. The image data is transmitted to the client for display or processing.

  • Patent number: 10169910
Abstract: The disclosure provides an approach for rendering heterogeneous polydisperse granular media. In one aspect, a rendering application renders such granular media using a combination of explicit path tracing and accelerated path construction using proxy path tracing, shell tracing, and volumetric path tracing. In proxy path tracing in particular, the rendering application instantiates proxy geometry in the form of a bounding sphere and determines internal scattering in the grain using a precomputed grain scattering distribution function that relates incident and outgoing radiance functions on the bounding sphere. In shell tracing, the rendering application uses shells to aggregate many grain interactions into a single step.

  • Patent number: 10134189
Abstract: To provide an excellent image display device worn on a head or face and used to view images, and an image display method. When displaying an image of a virtual world, such as a movie or computer graphics, with a display unit 309, a head-mounted display 100 temporarily removes the image in a portion specified with a touch panel, and display an image of the real world captured with an outward-facing camera 312. By looking at the image of the real world mixed in with the image of the virtual world, the user is able to perceive the real world and suitably interact with the real world, thereby making it possible to lessen psychological resistance while also avoiding physical harm due to events such as collisions with objects in the real world.

  • Patent number: 10134108
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide systems, methods, and computer storage media directed at image synthesis utilizing sampling of patch correspondence information between iterations at different scales. A patch synthesis technique can be performed to synthesize a target region at a first image scale based on portions of a source region that are identified by the patch synthesis technique. The image can then be sampled to generate an image at a second image scale. The sampling can include generating patch correspondence information for the image at the second image scale. Invalid patch assignments in the patch correspondence information at the second image scale can then be identified, and valid patches can be assigned to the pixels having invalid patch assignments. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

  • Patent number: 10102661
Abstract: A method for managing a multi-user animation platform is disclosed. A three-dimensional space within a computer memory is modeled. An avatar of a client is located within the three-dimensional space, the avatar being graphically represented by a three-dimensional figure within the three-dimensional space. The avatar is responsive to client input commands, and the three-dimensional figure includes a graphical representation of client activity. The client input commands are monitored to determine client activity. The graphical representation of client activity is then altered according to an inactivity scheme when client input commands are not detected. Following a predetermined period of client inactivity, the inactivity scheme varies non-repetitively with time.

  • Patent number: 10096081
Abstract: An adaptive list stores previously received hardware state information that has been used to configure a graphics processing core. One or more filters are configured to filter packets from a packet stream directed to the graphics processing core. The packets are filtered based on a comparison of hardware state information included in the packet and hardware state information stored in the adaptive list. The adaptive list is modified in response to filtering the first packet. The filters can include a hardware filter and a software filter that selectively filters the packets based on whether the graphics processing core is limiting throughput. The adaptive list can be implemented as content-addressable memory (CAM), a cache, or a linked list.
