  • Patent number: 9539777
Abstract: A tire is described that includes a casing defining a cavity and equipped to receive an object, such as an electronic circuit, for example, through use of a two-part attachment, such as a touch-close attachment, of which a first part is fixed to a wall of the casing and a second part can be joined to the first part when placed in contact with the first part to keep the object on the casing in a service position. The first part of the attachment includes connection elements that are an integral part of the wall of the casing of the tire. The connection elements allow these two parts to have freedom to move relative to each other, thereby limiting the transmission of stresses, which affect the wall of the tire, to the object. The connection elements may be loops of flexible thread formed by the extremities of turns of a coiled thread integrated into the wall of the tire during the tire's manufacture.

  • Patent number: 9434211
Abstract: A tire tread having a layered design is provided. In a first layer of the tread, sipes extend transversely to provide traction in the first stage of the wear life of the tread. In a second layer of the tread, the width of the sipes along the circumferential direction is increased to provide for improved traction in a second stage of the wear life. The increased width is provided by a void that opens to a circumferential groove only along one end. Because the void opens only along one end, a decrease in acoustical effects such as drive by noise can be provided.

  • Patent number: 9387729
Abstract: Both wet weather performance and steering stability performance are achieved. Lateral main grooves (16) formed in a tread (12) extend in a direction intersecting with circumferential main grooves (14) and open onto the circumferential main grooves (14). Water between the tread (12) and a road surface during wet weather running is accordingly discharged through the lateral main grooves (16) to the circumferential main grooves (14). The end portions of the lateral main grooves (16) opening onto the circumferential main groove (14) are provided with intersection portions 18 where first land portions (21) and second land portions (22) adjacent to each other in the tire circumferential direction at a lateral main groove (16) support each other in the tire width direction. The end portions at the circumferential main groove (14) side of the first land portions (21) and the second land portions (22) do not therefore readily tilt over even when a large slip angle is imparted to the tire.
