  • Patent number: 6665902
Abstract: A strip brush assembly for sweeping devices or machines comprises a plurality of metallic wires with attachment ends thereof being secured to a polymeric hub. The hub, while retaining the wire ends together is bonded or attached to a polymeric base that is configured with a channel to receive the hub. The base also has members shaped to secure the base to a brush assembly holder. An apparatus for making the brush assembly includes an extruder/shaping device that takes lengths of wires and continuously extrudes and shapes the hub around ends of the wires. The hub is then continuously attached to a polymeric base using fusion, adhesives, a combination of the two, or the like. The hub-containing base can then be cut to length as a metallic wire strip brush assembly for use on a mandrel.

  • Patent number: 6665905
Abstract: A wiper blade for cleaning motor vehicle windows has a wiper strip (12) which is surrounded by a guard profile (14) that with extensions (26, 28) formed onto its side cheeks (22, 24) engages longitudinal grooves (50, 52) of the wiper strip (12) and is fixed axially on the wiper strip (12) by inward-protruding protrusions (30, 32) in the region of its face ends (18, 20). The protrusions (30, 32) originate at one side cheek (22, 24) of the guard profile (14), and a first protrusion (30) extends on the outer face end (18) of the guard profile (14) to touch the opposite side cheek (22, 24) of the guard profile (14), while a second protrusion (32) on the inner face end (20) forms a gap (38) from the opposed side cheek (22, 24), which the gap allows mounting or unmounting of the guard profile (14) in the longitudinal direction (40, 42).

  • Patent number: 6667007
Abstract: A method of sterilization of a container is provided whereby a cold plasma is caused to be disposed near a surface to be sterilized, and the cold plasma is then subjected to a pulsed voltage differential for producing energized ions in the plasma. Those energized ions then operate to achieve spore destruction on the surface to be sterilized. Further, a system for sterilization of a container which includes a conductive or non-conductive container, a cold plasma in proximity to the container, and a high voltage source for delivering a pulsed voltage differential between an electrode and the container and across the cold plasma, is provided.

  • Patent number: 6663830
Abstract: Composition and method for simultaneously disinfecting and conditioning a wooden cutting surface, such as a cutting board or counter top. According to a preferred embodiment, the composition comprises a mixture of ethanol and food-grade mineral oil where the ethanol is present in an amount sufficient impart antiseptic properties. To the extent desired, other adjuvants, such as flavor enhancers, coloring agents, and the like may be added. The method comprises contacting the wooden cutting surface with such composition for a time sufficient to enable the ethanol to adequately disinfect the cutting surface. Preferably, such method may be performed by merely spraying or wiping the composition directly onto the wooden cutting surface.

  • Patent number: 6656438
Abstract: Since the disinfectant solution bottle has a detachable section and a sealing section, the disinfectant solution bottle can be connected to the inlet of the disinfectant solution tank of the cleaning and disinfecting unit in a watertight manner; the mouth section of the bottle is closed with the sealing section before the disinfectant solution bottle is attached to the inlet of the disinfectant solution tank; and while the disinfectant solution is being connected to the inlet of the disinfectant solution tank, the disinfectant solution or concentrated disinfectant solution in the disinfectant solution bottle can flow into the disinfectant solution tank via the inlet because the inside of the disinfectant solution bottle and the inside of the disinfectant solution tank can communicate with each other in a watertight manner cut off from the outside, for example, due to automatic rupture of the sealing section when the disinfectant bottle is attached to the inlet of the disinfectant solution tank.

  • Patent number: 6656423
Abstract: A sterile water generator (B) generates a stream of sterile water on demand. A water heater (130) heats incoming, unsterile water to a sufficient temperature to achieve sterilization of the water. The sterile water is then passed through a heat exchanger (110) which transfers excess heat from the sterile water to the incoming water. This reduces the energy consumption of the water heater and reduces the temperature of the sterile water ready for use. The sterile water is delivered to a site (A), at which the water is to be used, through a sterile water delivery pathway (C) to avoid recontamination of the water. A first portion (162) of the pathway is pre-sterilized by flowing steam or hot water, generated by the water heater, along the pathway (C). A second portion (212) of the pathway is sterilized with a liquid antimicrobial from the site. The first and second portions of the pathway have at least one common leg (164).

  • Patent number: 6651286
Abstract: A quick disconnect hub which is secured to the motor drive shaft receives a high pitch threaded pad driver disk to which a burnishing pad is mounted. The hub includes a conically tapered surface, as does the driver disk for centering. A spring-loaded locking pin extends between the burnishing motor and selectively locks the drive hub against rotation for removal of the driver disk by rotating approximately one or two times, thus allowing the removal of the pad driver from the motor and allowing the centered mounting of the burnishing pad to the driver remote from the machine. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, an interlock switch is coupled to the spring-loaded locking pin such that, when the hub is locked against rotation for removal of the driver disk, the switch prevents inadvertent activation of the motor when the hub is locked.

  • Patent number: 6645435
Abstract: An apparatus and method for providing a contact surface which is continuously sanitized with a sanitizing fluid. A reservoir contains the sanitizing fluid. A contact material has a porous contact surface in fluid communication with the reservoir. A moisture control and fluid distribution system determines the moisture level of the porous surface and, upon determining that the moisture level thereof has reached a predetermined level, causes a flow of the sanitizing fluid from the reservoir to the contact material. The contact material comprises a durable, porous outer layer configured for evenly distributing the sanitizing fluid to the contact surface and a backing layer bonded to the outer layer to provide a seal there between.

  • Patent number: 6640376
Abstract: A hand held cleaning device that has a self wringing mechanism for extracting liquids from a flexible cleaning element. A wringer mechanism is mounted at the end of an elongated handle. A slidable mop head base is mounted on the bottom of the handle and slides along the elongated handle. When the mop head is moved from its first cleaning position, the flexible cleaning element is drawn through the wringing assembly to remove absorbed liquids from the cleaning element. A pivotal gate opens, allowing the mop head and cleaning element to pass back through the wringing mechanism to assume its original cleaning position.
