  • Patent number: 9084951
Abstract: A coolant for a machine is filtered by passing some of the coolant into a discharge tube having an opening, the discharge tube supporting a filter bag. Coolant flowing into the discharge tube flows out of the tube through the opening, and then through the bag, and the filtered fluid is recirculated. An end piece, pivotably mounted to the discharge tube, prevents the bag from falling off while in operation, but can be pivoted to a position which facilitates insertion and removal of the bag. When filled, the bag can therefore easily be removed and replaced with a new bag. The invention greatly simplifies the process of filtering a coolant fluid.

  • Patent number: 6730221
Abstract: Catalyst particles are separated from the wax in a reactor slurry reactor by feeding a portion of the slurry to a dynamic settler. Heavier catalyst particles settle and are removed as the slurry at the bottom of the settler is recycled back to the reactor. Clarified wax is removed at the top of the settler. A multi-channel baffle prevents turbulence, improving retention of the desired heavier catalyst particles.

  • Patent number: 6709586
Abstract: A method and device for dewatering most liquid/solid solutions and slurries is described. A dewatering device having a dewatering pump in fluid communication with a filter rack with vertically arrayed filter elements that is carried by a container. To begin the dewatering process, the filter rack is lowered to the bottom of the container and the liquid/solid slurry is introduced. Next, the dewatering pump draws the liquid from the slurry into the filter rack and then to the pump. When dewatering efficiency decreases, the dewatering operation is momentarily stopped and the filter elements of the filter rack are backpulsed with air and raised to dislodge the filter cakes that have formed. The filter rack is then relowered and the dewatering operation continues. These steps of dewatering, backpulsing, raising the filter rack, and lowering filter rack are continued until the container is full of dewatered solids.

  • Patent number: 6685835
Abstract: In a method of filtration, a liquid to be filtered is brought into contact with the surface of a filter medium and is passed through the filter medium. A supernatant liquid layer is created on the surface of the filter medium, and the upper level of the liquid layer is suitably controlled. A hydraulic path is organized in the liquid layer, and a stream of the liquid to be treated is brought to the inlet of the hydraulic path. Liquid that has passed through the filter medium is recovered for n cycles by reinjecting the liquid into the supernatant layer at the outlet of the hydraulic path, producing in a section of the path a meeting of two opposed streams. The treated liquid is then drawn off after n cycles.
