  • Patent number: 6012185
Abstract: A pair of stackable, nestable blocks for elevating the leg of a bed to a plurality of selectable heights employs first and second blocks that each have upper and lower ends, with recesses being provided in at least one of the ends of each block that can be oriented upwardly to receive and support the foot or lower end region of a bed leg. Each block has a different length, which enables each block, used separately, to support the bed leg at a different height. Recesses of differing depths preferably are provided in opposite ends of at least one of the blocks, whereby the block or blocks that have dual-depth recesses can be inverted to provide bed leg support at two different heights. One of the two blocks preferably has a larger size than the other and is provided with recess(es) large enough to receive and support one or both of the end regions of the other of the blocks, whereby the smaller-size block can be stacked and nested atop the larger-size block to provide still more bed leg elevation heights.

  • Patent number: 6006378
Abstract: A bed permits changing of bedclothes without moving the person on it and without substantial burden for either the patient or the care-taker. A left and a right carriage member 5 and 6, wheels 15 to 18 and a shaft 7 constitute a carriage. The carriage supports mats 11 and 12 via balancing members 3 and 4 and shafts 1 and 2 and advances the mats 11 and 12 along rails 31 and 32. The mat 12 is stretched between the rails 31 and 32 by fasteners. The balancing members 3 and 4 are rotatably coupled by a shaft to downward extensions 5a and 6a of the carriage members 5 and 6. The shafts 1 and 2 are rotatably mounted in the balancing members 3 and 4. With advancement of the carriage caused by turning a grip 26, the slides 52 and 54 cause the old mat 12 to be released from the fasteners and wound on the shaft 2, while also causing the new mat 11 to be coupled to the fasteners and stretched between the rails 31 and 32.

  • Patent number: 5996264
Abstract: A sign holder device for mounting on the projecting lower margin of a display shelf ticket molding or label holder. The device is of injection molded construction having spaced apart side walls joined by top and bottom walls. A pair of mounting clips extend rearwardly and then upwardly from the bottom wall in general alignment with the respective through openings. Resilient plastic tabs, extending forwardly from the mounting clips, allow the device to be mounted on a variety of label holder configurations, where the label holders have a downwardly projecting lower edge margin to be received in the mounting clip. Abutment clips project rearwardly from the sidewalls toward the mounting clips and define locking recesses adjacent the bottom of the sign holder. This enables the sign holder to be applied over the lower edge of a flanged ticket molding and to be lockingly retained thereon by engagement of the lower flange within the locking recess.

  • Patent number: 5984570
Abstract: A lane marker of the present invention utilizes a housing and filler to support and protect a solar powered energy storage system. The circuitry draws power from solar cells and stores the energy in 5-20 storage capacitors. When the ambient light dims, the circuitry operates a timing device which causes one or more light emitting diodes located behind an angled clear window, to blink in a direction generally of the approaching traffic. The top of the housing protects a solar cell which is in operating position is mounted above the filler and below a clear upper window. The storage capacity may be varied by increasing or decreasing the capacitance used for energy storage. The duty cycle can be adjusted to levels consistent with sunlight and operating time. Geographic areas of high solar radiation can use the invention set safely have a higher duty cycle without depleting the stored energy, while areas of lower solar radiation can use the inventive circuit set for a lower duty cycle.
