  • Patent number: 5616012
Abstract: The pump is formed by a body having a cavity with a piston chamber in which a piston is reciprocated. A rotatable crank shaft is provided to reciprocate the piston along inward and outward strokes to draw ammonia into the pump by way of an inlet and then to pump the ammonia out by way of an outlet. A diaphragm in a diaphragm chamber is provided to separate the ammonia from the piston and piston chamber. One side of the diaphragm is in fluid communication with the piston chamber and the other side is in fluid communication with the inlet and outlet. A liquid is provided for flow into and out of the piston chamber to cause the diaphragm to move inward and outward to cause the suction and pumping action for the ammonia as the piston reciprocates in its inward and outward strokes.

  • Patent number: 5613835
Abstract: A water powered sump pump has a flow control apparatus connected to a source of water under pressure and to a suction generator. Water from the flow control apparatus flows through a nozzle in the suction generator, creates a pressure drop, suck water in from a sump, and discharge water through a discharge line. The control apparatus has a variable pressure chamber and a constant pressure chamber. The constant pressure chamber is connected to a source of water under pressure and to the suction generator. A diaphragm separates the two chambers and opens and closes a passage between the water source and the suction generator. An orifice connects the two chambers. A bleed valve opens and closes the variable pressure chamber. A spring biased arm of an actuator assembly is biased in one direction to open the bleed valve, drop pressure in the variable pressure chamber, move the diaphragm and open the passage which permits flow to the suction generator.

  • Patent number: 5613837
Abstract: An air compressor includes a suction space, a compression space and a discharge space that are aligned with one another. The compressor also includes one-way valves that function as a suction valve and a discharging valve. The open areas of the suction valve and the discharge valve are sufficiently enlarged since both valves are not formed in the same element. Therefore, both valves can permit a large amount of air flow. Further, the suction space serves as a crank space so that fresh air is always drawn into the crank space to cool the crank space.

  • Patent number: 5611678
Abstract: An air driven diaphragm pump having two diaphragms joined by a common control shaft to reciprocate in opposed chambers for pumping material through check valve ported cavities. An actuator valve is associated with the central housing of the pump and includes a valve cylinder within which a valve piston reciprocates. The valve piston is caused to reciprocate by alternate venting of the ends of the cylinder. Air chamber passages are controlled by the control shaft to vent the ends of the valve cylinder. A cylindrical portion of the control shaft includes axial slots for venting alternate ends of the valve piston. Annular channels manifold air to and from the axial slots. Seals of elastomeric annular rings and PTFE cylindrical inner liners bonded to the annular rings are arranged in certain of the annular channels, the sidewall of one of which is relieved outwardly for increased venting air flow.

  • Patent number: 5611672
Abstract: A floatless pneumatic pump having an elongated housing including a sealable fluid entry aperture and a pipe communicating between an interior and an exterior of the housing, with the housing movably attached to the pipe for axial displacement therewith. The housing includes a bottom wall and a cylindrical side wall extending from the bottom wall and terminating in an opening. A switchable valve control having a pod closes the opening. The pod has a plurality of valve seats and a plurality of corresponding valve elements, with the plurality of valve seats defining at least one fluid inlet port and at least one fluid outlet port. The valve elements alternatingly seal the inlet and outlet ports in relation to the axial displacement of the housing, allowing both fluid to ingress through a sealable fluid entry aperture and fluid to egress through the pipe.

  • Patent number: 5611675
Abstract: A spool 9 is connected to the rotating shaft 1 so that the spool 9 is slidable with respect to the shaft 1, while the rotating movement of the shaft 1 is transmitted to the spool 9. The spool 9 is formed with a first recess 9-3 of a reduced circumferential extension for obtaining a reduced compression capacity and a second recess 9-4 of an increased circumferential extension for obtaining a full capacity of the compressor. An intake pressure is always opened to a side of the spool, while an intermediate chamber is formed on the other side of the spool. A spring 10 is arranged for causing the spool 9 to be moved toward the intermediate pressure chamber. At the instant the compressor is brought into operation, introduction of the intake gas occurs via the first recess 9-4, thereby obtaining a compression capacity of 3 to 5% compared to the full capacity of the compressor.

  • Patent number: 5605445
Abstract: When liquids are conveyed together in the liquid ring of a liquid ring machine, an increased power requirement and a deterioration of the running characteristics of the rotor result. A liquid ring machine for selectively conveying several liquids has a housing which eccentrically surrounds a rotor and whose end face is closed by lateral shields for the rotor shaft. At least one controlling body is provided with a suction slot and a delivery slot associated with the rotor, and in addition to the delivery slot, has a relief passage located in the delivery area. In order to obtain a liquid ring having an approximately constant thickness, the relief passage is directly connected to the working liquid supply line of the liquid ring machine so that excess liquid flowing out through the relief passage is added directly to the working liquid. The relief passage may also be connected with a closed feed channel which opens outside the machine housing.

  • Patent number: 5593289
Abstract: This invention relates to an improvement in plunger valve assemblies for reciprocating sucker rod operated subsurface pumps and specifically as to the traveling valves and standing valves. The traveling valve includes a valve body having an inwardly-directed lip at the bottom with the valve seat, ball and cage inserted from the top of the valve body. Further the standing valve has a closed cage formed in the upper portion thereof which is threaded into the bottom of the pump barrel, thus placing the closed cage of the standing valve and the traveling valve in closer proximity at the bottom of the downstroke than prior such pumps.

  • Patent number: 5593292
Abstract: A valve cage whose tubular side wall has a progressively diminishing thickness between the seat and the stop means, whereby the bore is tapered and upwardly enlarging in that interval. Therefore the flow area between the ball provided in the bore and the side wall increases as the ball ascends. The side wall has ball guide ribs which project inwardly and increase in height at the same rate as the wall thickness diminishes, so that the ribs form a race of constant diameter, for guiding the ball as it moves vertically and preventing it from moving laterally. The ball stop is positioned at the top of the cage and the external thread for connection with the pump barrel is positioned intermediate the ends of the cage. This arrangement enables the seats of the travelling and standing valves to come close together at the bottom of the down stroke of the plunger.
