  • Patent number: 5005363
Abstract: A cryogenic sorption pump comprises a housing complete with a cover, a bottom, and an inlet nozzle, and, a vessel for cryogenic agent, designed in the form of two shells installed in the central part of the pump one over the other and interconnected by a circular element. The cryogenic agnet vessel is provided with a heat conductor encompassing the upper shell and forming an interspace therewith, wherein is installed a gas-permeable screen. Between the heat conductor and the gas-permeable screen is located an adsorbent. The pump contains a vacuum conductor arranged within the space of the cryogenic agent vessel and provided with heat conductors attached to the vacuum conductor and installed inside the shells, respectively, throughout their length. The ends of the vacuum conductor are provided with heat bridges, respectively, and taken out of the housing through the bottom. The pump is also provided with pipes and for filling in cryogenic agent and removing cryogenic agent vepors, respectively.

  • Patent number: 5003783
Abstract: A closure member (16) of the cooler is controlled by a bulb actuator (18) which defines an auxiliary gas volume (24) located in the cold part of the cooler and connected to a chamber (21) of very much larger volume located in the warm part of the cooler. Application in the cooling of infrared ray detectors.

  • Patent number: 4935043
Abstract: A cryogenic process of simultaneous selective desulphurization and gasoline removal of a gaseous mixture consisting mainly of methane and likewise containing H.sub.2 S and hydrocarbons with C.sub.2 and more.Said gaseous mixture (1), after having eventually undergone an operation of removal of benzol (25) and then cooling (2) producing condensates (4), is washed between 0.degree. C. and -45.degree. C. by means of a solvent (5) selective of H.sub.2 S to produce a current of methane (64) having a partial pressure in H.sub.2 S below 65 Pa and a liquid phase (9a) rich in H.sub.2 S and containing at least 80% molar of the hydrocarbons of C.sub.3 and more of the gaseous mixture (1). The liquid phase (9a) is subjected to a demethanization (29, 9) producing a demethanized rich solvent (11) and a gaseous phase rich in methane (10), the solvent (11) then is cooled between -25.degree. and -80.degree. C. sufficiently to produce its dissociation in a lower liquid fraction (38) that contains the H.sub.

  • Patent number: 4848996
Abstract: The present invention is an improvement to a standard nitrogen generator. The improvement is two-fold; first, the addition of one or more distillation stages above the reboiler, which stages effectively transform the reboiler/condenser into a partial low pressure column and allow further separation (rectification) of the nitrogen generator bottoms liquid into two streams. Second, the recycle of the overhead stream (at a composition close to that of air) from the top of the low pressure column to the main air compressor. Additionally, at least a portion of the oxygen-enriched stream that exits the low pressure column below the bottom tray is expanded to provide refrigeration for the cycle.
