Abstract: A sleeve assembly for sanding, rust removing, and pit filling on a piston rod of a hydraulic cylinder or the like includes a sanding component, a rust removing component and a pit filling component. The sanding component comprises a rigid annular outer member, a resilient annular intermediate member adhesively secured to the inner surface of the outer member, and an abrasive annular inner member adhesively secured to the inner surface of the intermediate member and in interference contact with the piston rod. The rust removing component comprises an annular upper ring member composed of a rigid material and an elastomeric annular lower C-ring member having brass or bronze particles imbedded therein. The pit filling component comprises an annular upper ring member composed of a rigid material and an elastomeric annular lower C-ring member having lead particles imbedded therein. Clamp means releasably engages the members of each of the components about the piston rod.
Abstract: A glass-fiber filter tube and process of preparing the filter tube, which filter tube comprises a plurality of randomly disposed, fine glass fibers bonded, at the junction of the fibers, with a fused thermoplastic fluorocarbon resin, which filter tube may also include a reinforcing support scrim sheet incorporated integrally therein.
Abstract: A process for coating inorganic substrates, especially metallic or metalloid substrates, sintered metal carbides and carbon materials with carbides, nitrides and/or carbonitrides, using certain nitriles as sources of carbon and nitrogen, is described. High deposition rates and smooth coatings of good to very good adhesion are achievable by this process.
Abstract: A power grid for a fluidized bed for electrostatically depositing a powdered plastic coating material from the bed onto an elongated metal substrate moving in a path of travel above the upper surface of the bed on a substantially horizontal pass line. The power grid includes two co-planar wire mesh elements positioned beneath the surface of the bed, the elements having opposed edges in parallel spaced relationship and defining a gap therebetween beneath the pass line. The edges are upturned to form a plurality of electrode segments, the tips of the electrode segments being substantially coincident with the upper surface of the bed when energized. In operation the electrode segments form a row of localized corona discharges to either side of the passing substrate to effect electrostatic deposition of a thin uniform film coating of the powdered material thereon.
