  • Patent number: 5367927
Abstract: A clutch removal tool formed of an elongated member having a center portion with opposing semi-circular portions. A hole is formed in this center portion for engaging over the pushrod adjusting screw of a motorcycle clutch assembly. The clutch removal tool also includes opposing end portions tapering inwardly away from the center portion. The length of clutch removal tool enables the end portions to make contact against the clutch assembly spring collar without interference with the spring tension adjusting nuts. In use, the clutch removal tool is installed over the pushrod adjusting screw. The end portions engage against the spring collar. The pushrod adjusting screw locknut is tightened against the clutch removal tool. This releases the pressure against the spring tension adjusting nuts. The spring tension adjusting nuts can be easily removed without interference from the clutch removal tool. Once the spring tension adjusting nuts are removed, the pressure plate assembly is removed.

  • Patent number: 5355634
Abstract: A tool holder unit for a robot includes a pantograph linkage which is made up of a frame, a pair of parallel spaced links and a holder block. Each end of the parallel spaced links is connected to the holder block. The tool holder also includes a drive source which drives a tool and an offsetting member which offsets the gravitational force caused by the force of gravity on the tool. The tool moves relative to a workpiece when a force from the drive source moves the pantograph linkage. The pantograph linkage and offsetting member reduce the load on the drive source and move the tool quickly and smoothly.

  • Patent number: 5355750
Abstract: An improved earth-boring bit the rolling cone variety and an insert for use therein is provided. A superabrasive element is coated with at least one layer of metallic material. The superabrasive element then is placed in a receptacle cavity in a pre-formed hard metal jacket. The superabrasive element then is brazed or infiltrated to the hard metal jacket. Metallurgical and mechanical bonds between the superabrasive element, the at least one layer of metallic material on superabrasive element, the braze or infiltrant binder material, and the fracture-tough material of the hard metal jacket retain the superabrasive element in the cavity of the hard metal jacket. Improved earth-boring bits according to this embodiment of the present invention provide abrasion-resistant earth-boring bits of the rolling cutter variety. Such improved bits, and the inserts therefore, are formed without resort to high-temperature, high-pressure processes.

  • Patent number: 5351580
Abstract: An electrically heated thermal wire stripping hand tool device is provided which uses electrically heated ceramic blades or jaws having severing edges to remove insulation from electrical wire. The tool includes a pair of arms hingedly connected which removably mount stripping jaws thereon at their distal ends. Each jaw has an insulation severing edge which when heated will melt or otherwise degrade the insulation on the wire when it coacts with the severing edge on the mating jaw. Electrically heated wires and circuitry are provided which heat the severing edges of the jaw. Contacts are provided which removably secure each jaw to one of the arms to provide electrical power thereto. The jaws and contacts are also provided with alignment devices which coact with each other when the jaws are mounted on the arms to provide alignment in both the x and y axes of the plane on which the jaws mate for severing insulation.

  • Patent number: 5347764
Abstract: An air tool includes a housing containing an air motor with a shaft rotatable about a longitudinal axis and connectable to an implement for working the surface of a workpiece. Power handle and idle handles have upper and lower ends connected to the housing at angularly spaced locations. Air power is supplied to the motor by an air passage extending through the power handle to an intake at the top of the housing. The upper and lower connections of the handles to the housing have axes extending generally perpendicular to each other and vibration insulators prevent metal to metal contact with the housing. One of the vibration insulators also is used in sealing against the loss of power air before entering the motor. Between their upper and lower ends, the handles are slanted at an angle of about fifteen degrees (15.degree.) relative to the axis of the tool.
