  • Patent number: 4182102
Abstract: The pickup assembly has an upright loading duct with a primary conveying impeller located between the upper outlet and the lower inlet of the duct. A secondary crop pickup impeller adjacent the inlet combs through crop stubble as the machine advances and lifts severed crop materials up to the primary impeller where the latter propels the materials upwardly through the duct and out the outlet. Flexible rubber fingers on the secondary impeller are generally T-shaped, having heads that are releasably clamped against the hub of the impeller by an inverted channel which is capable of retaining a series of the fingers at the same time. The secondary impeller floats independently of the duct and has one or more gauge wheels associated therewith to keep the fingers of the impeller from digging into the ground during rotation.

  • Patent number: 4178689
Abstract: This application describes a dental burr including a cutting surface having one or more grooves therein, each of the grooves being defined by a plane which encircles the cutting surface at a skewed angle with respect to the axis of rotation of the burr. Such groove(s) provide an oscillatory chip clearing action as the burr rotates to give edge cutting and fast chip clearance. The cutting surface has abrasive particles coated thereon.

  • Patent number: 4126988
Abstract: A mowing device comprises a housing extending transversely of the direction of movement of the mower, a plurality of cutting members rotatably journalled at said housing and a driving gear accommodated in said housing for driving the cutting members, each cutting member comprising at least one disc skimming the housing and at least one cutter fastened to the periphery or the top side of the disc. In order to eliminate the risk of damage of the mowing device due to stones jammed between the discs filling means are provided in each space at the front edge of the housing, limited by every pair of cutting members and converging in the direction of rotation of said cutting members.

  • Patent number: 4030273
Abstract: A rotary lawn mower having a housing with a continuous side wall and an open bottom. A motor on the housing drives a rotating cutting blade. The housing has a top with a front portion provided with an arcuate discharge opening. A discharge chute secured to the housing extends upwardly and in a rearward direction over the top of the motor. The discharge chute has a downwardly projected neck having an exit opening for discharging grass clippings and particulate materials into a disposable bag. A holder attaches the upper end of the bag to the neck. The lower end of the bag rests on a platform located between the rear wheels of the mower.

  • Patent number: 3961468
Abstract: An apparatus for trimming trees, hedges, and the like including a cutting arm supported in a centilevered fashion from an upstanding tower. The cutting arm includes flexible, resilient, drive and idler wheels rotatably mounting a continuous, band-type saw blade. As the blade is rotated in a closed path, it cuts and transports the trimmings toward a guard on the arm which causes them to be deposited in a row adjacent the path of travel of the apparatus. Means are included for moving the cutting arm vertically along the tower and for pivoting and rotating the arm in order to selectively position the height and angle of the cutting blade.
